Location: North Dakota | I've heard of them for years but how do they fit? What type of back do they work for? Saw a Jeff Smith barrel saddle on a buster welch tree that I just loved but don't really know anything about. My horse has med-high withers, big shoulders, and a broad slightly flatter back. |

| The name of the tree comes from the shape of the front end or swells. A BW barrel tree from Bowden, Timberline, or Precision can literally be any specifications that you want on the bars. A BW Jeff Smith can be drastically different from a BW Tod Slone. Tree makers build trees to the saddle makers specs, so your question is impossible to answer on how a BW tree fits, since there is no industry standard.
A better way to answer your question is how do Jeff Smith saddles fit. If it's a production saddle, the specs should be the same from saddle to saddle. If it's a custom Jeff Smith, it's anybody's guess what tree dimensions were requested from the original customer.

Oh ok. That make sense. It's a stock model on their site but they don't specify the size. |

Location: Arkansas | I have a Jeff Smith (not sure if BW tree or not), not a custom and not one of the newer ones. It fits a wide variety of horses but there isn't much gullet clearance on a high withered horse with mine. |
