I'm trying to find my husband a roping saddle he can piddle on. I can't spend a lot so I'm trying to find something used but still good quality. I seen a couple of the Corriente roping saddles? I know the barrel saddles they make are pretty good.

I've had 2 corriente roping saddles, loved them! When it was time for another roping saddle, I found a great deal at a feed store that had a nice double J for sale.. if I didn't find that gem, I'd definitely would have ordered another corriente. Can't really go wrong for the price.

According to my fiancé they're junk, but I've never seen one to know for sure, came up in conversation about how he dislikes saddle ropings that don't give you a cash option because they're usually corriente saddles.

Is he going to just piddle around in it or actually rope out of it?

I'm a stickler for quality all around, but with the beating rope saddles being roped out of take, I'm an even bigger stickler since saddle and pad are all that protect a horses back from the jerk.

All we have now are Infinity's and 1 Martin trophy saddle that's about 10 years old. We've had Cactus and Slone's as well though and liked them, just LOVE our infinity's now.

He's not really a roper but I would like the option if we go to a friend's house or something. He mostly wants it to just ride and drag stuff on colts and that sorta thing.

I heel in a Corriente saddle-like it-my hubby has a cactus and a scott thomas.  I really like the scott thomas saddle (but then so does my daughter) the cactus he bought from Smith Brothers and the scott thomas off a guy that won the saddle for $600-who cares if it's a trophy saddle-usually fits a horse GREAT!  Be sure to check out for used OR trophy saddles-most guys need the money for their next roping!!

+1 on the Infinity.  Well built saddle for the money.  Cody is also one heck of a good roper and horseman.

One word of caution..... a poorly fitting or cheap roping saddle can ruin a good rope horse so much quicker than a poor barrel saddle ever did.  It can be down right dangerous.
