Just curious if anybody has any experiance with Cactus Saddlery? Particularly how they fit bigger shouldered horses? I found a saddle on eBay that is tempting, but I can't find many/any reviews of the brand.

Which saddle in particular did you find? Cactus has a lot of different trees. See if the seller will give you the serial number and call Cactus about the saddle.
Cactus is a middle to high quality saddle brand. Yes, just like everyone they do sell cheaper made saddles and they have a cheaper saddle line. But for the most part they use Herman Oak leather, top quality conchos and accessories and stand behind their saddles 100% on tree quality and durability. See if you can get the serial number or the the model of the saddle. That will tell you if the saddle is from their cheaper line or if it is of good quality.
ETA: I have found that most of Cactus' saddles have a 6 3/4" or a 6 1/2" gullet with full quarter horse bars. (So they fit wider than say a Teskey saddle that has a 6 3/4" gullet with regular Quarter Horse Bars.) Forget Gullet measurement. Find a saddle that is Full Quarter Horse bars and it will fit wider, but lay more flat against the bars of the horses back.
I have a Cactus CJ, I am not sure what tree it is but I can tell you it fits a wider horse awesome. Idk if it is the shape of the bars or what but it really lets that shoulder be free. I use it on my mutton withered horse no problem.

Agree with ^^^^ I have a Cactus Charmayne James and I had to start using my husbands pad with built in shims to make it fit my not exactly narrow gelding.

Yep CJ's Cactus is awesome for big horses. I just wish the seat was deeper for myself. I always felt behind my horse so I sold it :( Haven't found anything that fits quite as nice as that did but am having really good luck with an older Coats.

I have a Cactus and it fits my cow bred horses awesome... my race bred horses its wide on most of them. I love mine its super well made and beautiful to look at, only knock on it is the seat is hard as a rock!
ETA: Mine isn't a CJ... I forget what it is at the moment.
I decided to pass because I don't get to try it first. It was really, really tempting, especially with all the goodies it comes with.
I currently have a Circle Y XP on trial, I thiiink its a good fit. Just worried that there is a bit of pressure towards the very front of the skirt, but I'm not sure if that is from the skirts not being broken in, or an actual problem.
