mine got fat as a tick and crazier than a loon on it. Never heard of one not keeping extra weight with it. But I'll never feed it again to anything I ride

SAME WITH MINE.... They were BEAUTIFUL on it.... For as long as you could look at them when they weren't bouncing off the walls.. lol

I wasn't a fan of ultium either...if you HAVE to stick with Purina I'd try Strategy or Omolene 100/200 OR a 50/50 of Strategy/ Omolene...I went through a lot of feed before I settled on Total Equine though.

I feed Ultium and have for almost a full year.

LOVE it - my horses look great and I have not had any issues with it making something crazy ... and the younger one I have on it could easily be a nut job.

I also feed alfalfa with it.

Just my experience.
