I have about $150 Dollars to spend on getting my boy back to 100%. Background: He is still on RG, Orchard Grass Hay, and free choice grass/coastal. His feed regimen has not changed. Nothing has changed but his physical activity and the weather. It's gotten cold, then hot, and is now cold again. He has not been eating,  grinding teeth, and is slowly starting to not eat all of his feed/hay. I'm almost positive it's ulcers again.

Would you:
A. Order 14 days of Omeprezol and a jug of Banamine from Horse Pre Race
B. Order CurOst EQ Stomach
C. Order ITZ Paste from Animal Element

Or give me a product/routine to try that I haven't already tried. LOL

Last time I did 14 days of Omeprezol, Aloe Vera Juice drench, and a pain reliver called Stop the Pain.
Thanks guys!

If it was my horse I would go with the THE regimine of GastroPlus and their new Gastro maintenance. I then put my horse on the MM or the Equine Edge with ulcer preventative added.

My second choice would be B and I would be adding some alfalfa to his diet.

Ranitidine - $80 for 30 days

Probios - $11-13/tube, half a tube a day for a week

Change out the Orchard Grass for Alfalfa(actual hay over pellets and cubes if you can - less reason for him to be picky)

I have had a lot of luck using either curost stomach or just adding marshmellow root and aloe. I treated 25 horses for ulcers this spring and summer. I did use omeprazole on some and I did 1/4 dose along with supplement. At the end I was running our of money as just used marshmellow and aloe and had very good luck getting them all back up and doing good again. I avoid banamine unless having serious pain. I also used Ucklele gut with good results. Hope you get your horse feeling better again. It can be a real struggle to get them going.

Cur-OST Stomach gets my vote. I put my mare who wasn't eating anything and hardly drinking on Cur-OST stomach the beginning of October after she was seen by my vet. She was back to eating in less than 24 hours after starting it. I had to syringe the first few doses into her but it worked and she has been on the mend ever since.

Cur Ost. I would feed for at least 30 days. I don't think 14 days is a long enough to heal ulcers. I gave my horse Cur Ost Stomach and Adapt for at least 30 days. I give it to him 2 days before a stress event, the day of and then the next day now.

Why would you want the horse on banamine?

This isn't something I give horses with ulcers as you would risk the possibility of bleeding ulcers turning into a gi bleed, I lived through a gi bleed and never again.

I would do omeprazole for 30 days

I would change the diet to prevent the ulcers, I have good luck with excel eq.

My favorite thing to keep horses on after omeprazole is papaya puréed. There has been research published in vet journals in the 80's showing it will cure ulcers. I also seen formula 1 noni is coming out with a papaya product

THE GastroPLUS and if it doesn't show improvement in 45 days, you get your money back. How is that? 30 scoops is $110. Some pictures of TB's in training before and afters.

I heard Marshmellow root was good for the uclers, I have a friend that could not spend lots of money on the expensive supplements for uclers, so she just bought marshmellow root by bulk and feed it to her mare with her feedings, the mare did real good on it. I used it on my gelding when I had to give him bute for awhile, was worry about him getting uclers at the time. LOL, this darn turkey is so cute got to use him as much as possible

The last time o had some issues I went with the CurOst Stomach for 60 days I believe. Just to be sure. He gets alfalfa and every now and then oats or something else, but never over 2lbs per meal. And knock on wood I have not any ulcer issues at all since and that was probably January.

I have a chronic ulcer horse-have run a couple of rounds of omprezole through him.  He never really got any better.  I tried silver lining he was a little better.  Started using Redmonds Gold stress relief that helped a little.  When the silver lining ran out I started researching things that had the same basic make up and was somewhat easier for me to get-I hate ordering from multiple places and really like state line tack as I buy a lot of my stuff from them and their shipping and prices are pretty good.  I found Uckele Gut-it is herbal and honestly the horse is completely changed-no more nervous pacing, no more squirty poops (even at dinner time he would make a mess)  I'm not sure he's 100% but visibly improved.  He didn't love it at first but licks his pan clean now.  I'm really glad I stumbled across the Uckele-I have a heevy(sp?) horse too and the Lung has made a huge difference with him as well-plus that it's a pellet as he eats it without fuss.
I do still add the Redmonds stress relief just to be sure along with the GUT.  It's really economical for the results.
edited to add that the first 10 days or so I doubled the GUT dosage.  He's on pasture and gets less than 2 pounds of corn oats and barley along with flax and a mineral

I'm a paranoid type person when it comes to my horse so I bite the bullet and go 30 days Gastro Guard - or UlcerGuard (full tube)

Check out Equi-sure

You can treat your horse with it exactly like you would with Omeprezole and other Ulcer medications but it is all natural and way cheaper!!
It has lots of other uses as well. We keep a bottle in the barn and vet kit.

You have to give three scopes per day which means that for 119.95 you are actually only getting 30 days worth. You can buy it cheaper from the vet in pill form and grind it.

I use Teri Crooks and her compounded omeprazole suspension. $200 for 30 days at the TREATMENT dose. If you're using to prevent, you'd get 120 days worth.

Thank you for all the suggestions guys! I belive I'm going to try CurOst...
As far as alfalfa goes I would love to feed it to my boy, but he's got a terrible alfalfa alergy. The mare gets alfalfa cubes.

The banamine was listed because it was suggested to me last time my guy was down because of his teeth grinding.

Thanks for all the great responses. I'll update after he's been on for 30 days to let you guys know how it's working/not working/ etc.
PS He's my favorite! -------------->
