| Hi all,
I've been researching reproductive technologies and am trying to get an idea of what ET will cost me if I own both the donor and recip mare. (I've only done AI in the past). What has it cost you in your experience?

Location: Being pushed over the edge, NM | Owning the recip isn't just as easy as "owning the recip." The recip has to be in synch in her reproductive cycle to accept the donor embryo, that's why you typically have a large herd of recips to choose from, because you only get the one shot to flush an embryo and implant.
I pay $350/flush, and the recip ranges from $3500- $4000 depending on the farm. Add in the culture, any antibiotics, the ultrasounds, the breeding, etc.

Guess you have changed your stance since May when you made this post.
Mother Nature and God never meant for humanoids to mess with their creations .. as fragile as DNA structure is in semen or mare's egg ... a sneeze in New York City can damage what is going on in your barn... lol
Just look at history ... when man messes with something the world becomes totally screwed up in a 1,000 different directions ... lol
Just keep in mind .. you do not see any of the big ET or frozen semen re-production labs running big ads on their successes of producing any winners ..
I think it is funny that it took some French pastry bakers to figure out the size of the oven allows you to end up with bigger muffins .... lol |

and see a lot of dinks.
And then one breeder shows outstanding results and
I want to know what ET company they are using....
In the barrel horse ET programs I think the crosses on
Mulberry Canyon Moon have the most attention ..
I've noticed the colts have gone immediately to the breeding
shed to try to recover the overall purchase price ..
So .. no real evaluation if there is a smoking gun amongst
the ET foals ...
Race horse babies are tabbed frozen or ET ... is the same true
for tracking barrel babies ??
