Location: Arkansas | I don't know why my original post was under transportation or something!!
Update: Chandler feels better; tooth still hurts but the nausea and swelling are gone. I'm setting up a dentist appointment for the day after he gets home. My momma killed a 9 point the first morning that she said had a lot of "ground shrinkage" when she got to him!! Lula Bell (Laura, Chandler's gf) killed her first turkey (10 inch beard) the first morning and a 9 point buck the next morning. It was her second buck ever because she didn't start hunting til she and Chandler started dating 3 1/2 years ago. It was bigger than her first buck, and Daddy said she didn't stop grinning all day long. Lastly, Chandler got a 12 point this morning---I believe it was very good medicine for that abscessed tooth!! I'm going to ask one of the board buddies to let me send them some pictures to post since I'm technologically challenged! My daddy is slowly going blind (macular degeneration), and I had so hoped he would get one last TX deer before he couldn't see anymore, but tomorrow is their last day, so I'm afraid that may not be God's will. They have had a wonderful time though, so now I start my safe traveling prayers to get them home when they head out Wednesday morning. (I told them what was NOT fun was watching 1 million fish every night, feeding 2 cats and 1 dog, and working at my "official" paying job during the daylight hours!!)
If I can ask for y'all to send your prayers up for them to make the 14 hour drive home safely, I'd surely appreciate it. . . .

I don't always post on your threads, but I enjoy reading them. It is awesome to feel the overflowing love and pride for your son. I know you've all been through a lot, and yet, you still have this upbeat, Godly outlook on life. |

Thanks Miss Rox for posting them for me. That child is my heart; God blessed me more than I ever deserved when He gave me Chandler.
Thank you Bingo, you made me have happy tears from your post. Daddy takes pride in Chandler, especially their hunting bond, so he has been bragging about Chandler's hunt down there since the first day. Daddy didn't get a deer, but I think he has had fun watching Lula Bell and Chandler chase deer, quail, turkey, Jack rabbits, and even road runners!!
Lula Bell is our 6 foot barrel racer who can dress up in evening gowns or climb thru briars following hog blood behind the dogs and Chandler--we just love her to death. And I'm biased I know, but I think Chandler is a good looking kid. Who needs a haircut worse than bad right now!!
Thank y'all for all of your kind words, and I appreciate you all holding them up for save traveling grace home. They're heading out at 3 am. . .

Location: Arkansas | My family is home, my family is home!!! God provided safe traveling grace and they got in about 7 tonight. They are worn to a frazzle; I told Chandler to go to bed and I'd watch fish again tonight. He has a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon; he's just beyond thrilled! (Would you believe they set up watching the election results until 3:05 am when they pulled out of Del Rio?!! Lula Bell slept a little, so she was the designated first round driver!)
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. |

Glad to hear that they had a safe trip home..And how is Chandler feeling did he get his tooth fixed yet? OK since I'm not a hunter what does ground shrinkage mean?
Unfortunately it is his wisdom teeth---we scheduled surgery today to remove all four. He kept saying "but trust me, Momma, it doesn't hurt anymore"! What worries me is the dentist said the one tooth that is giving him the problems right now is sitting on a nerve to the point he could already have some damage. And that even if there isn't, the surgery could cause damage and he could have permanent numbness in that area. Not the news I was hoping for. I'm planning to get him to an oral surgeon next week for a second opinion. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Ground shrinkage means his horns weren't nearly as big as she thought they were when he was still on the hoof!!!! It's an amazing phenomenon, Miss Roxie
Happens at our camp quite often I'm afraid!! |
