| I recently lost my beloved Boston terrier. I have found one a few states away that I fell in love with. I have never shipped a puppy before. Can anyone give me some insight and things to be aware of? I see there is something called pet pay like pay pal anyone use? Thanks in advance!

Location: SW North Dakota | I did this about 6 or 7 years ago after a bald eagle killed my JRT. I found a breeder that bred the Parson Russell type I liked, got photos and videos of the pup... I thought it would be a perfect match, and sent to full amount of money, including airfare up front. The transaction was silky smooth, and the breeder was top notch. The puppy was as described and healthy, but his personality wasn't a great fit. I wish I could have met the pups first. He was kind of a dud. Of course, he was well loved! |

Location: LA Lower Alabama | Other than finding a good breeder you drive to airport with your papers and pick up a kennel with a very bored pup inside. No but seriously I paid and got papers and was updated when he was put on the plane and when it would arrive and I went to the airport and showed my papers and cut the zip ties off the cage and cuddled all the way home.

| I did research on flying pups and they have temp requirements to fly them. I'm in South Dakota and who the heck knows what the weathers gonna do here. The pup is in eastern Missouri only 8 hr drive I'm half tempted to just drive down over thanksgiving holiday. |

Sounds like a fun trip. Pay a deposit and make a weekend travel plan.

| Ok another dumb question! How do you know for sure it's a legit deal? I don't do much internet buying so I'm a lil behind times here!! Their website says it's under construction I found the puppy on a third party website. In email communication there are no red flags. Not finding much on google so I'm a bit hesitant. Would it be rude to ask for references?

Location: Florida | Contact the AKC for references as well as the Better Business Bureau and the local Animal Control. Plus they should have a business license and file taxes. Check it all, website under construction is a red flag. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I would think they would be happy to provide references. I bought a GSD puppy from a breeder in NE 9 years ago and she couldn't have been more perfect. The airport lost her for a couple of hours, which was frustrating, but she didn't seem affected by it. For an 8 hour drive, I'd be tempted to go get it in person. We went 6 hours away for one last spring. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I would drive the 8 hours. But, I'm pretty particular in what I look for in a dog and I have to interact with them to see what I like. Color and size make no difference to me.

Location: Arkansas | Chandler just got Laura a silver lab for their anniversary. We looked locally but couldn't find a litter that either wasn't sold or was due before next year. She got on FB and located a kennel that was up north somewhere--had started in Rhode Island and then moved like 3 times in what i considered a short amount of time. I was leery to say the least, but I went to the website and finally convinced myself to give it a try. (I called and talked to the lady several times; she said she even delivered to AR.) I did the deposit thru PayPal and then worried and worried until she let us know when she was coming to Little Rock. Chandler and Lula Bell went up on a Sunday afternoon and came home with Rebel Ryder Harper Thompson, the cutest thing you've ever seen!!! He's growing so fast it's unbelievable, and healthy as can be. I was very skeptical but it worked out great for us. The breeder kept in constant contact with Lula, sending updates and pictures and how much weight he gained weekly, etc. She even checks in with Laura now i think just to see how Ryder is doing! I'd definitely drive to pick him up tho. . . .
If you have questions ask for references and research them for sure.

Location: Missouri | I'm in Missouri..where abouts is this breeder? I also years ago raised dogs. Chances are I can find someone who knows the breeder. I was never offended when asked for references. It made me feel my puppy was going to a good home. Personally I would come visit our beautiful state, meet the breeder and parents of the pup. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | We bought our big lug out of Pennsylvania. He ended up being in his kennel for a bit of 8 hours, because he had to go thru layover and get a connecting flight. Unfortunately, the breeder didn't "pack" him well. Only put in a single potty pad and a bowl of water that obviously spilt everywhere. He had peed all over. He was soaked and got an eye infection because of it. BUT, we couldn't have asked for a better, more loyal, loveable dog. He was well worth the hassle for us.

Location: Texas | I bought my Doberman from a BB on here and had only seen pictures. She came well recommended from here. She is in another state and I used pay pay and paid for everything up front including shipping. She came on a big truck with kennels inside, air conditioned, heated etc. Very fancy set up!
Everything turned out great and we love our dog! I am actually getting ready to purchase again from the same breeder! |

| Contacted breeder & they are getting me some references. Also asked for video of pup. She has been very cooperative so far. So we'll see if it pans out. I'll keep you guys posted hopefully I'll have a lil bundle of joy to share with you! |

Location: Running my kids somewhere. | I had my mini aussie flown from AZ to WI. I have also shipped puppies. I have always done things through pay pal. Check references, verify papers and flights. Make sure to watch temps. That was a tricky thing to watch. The airlines have lows and highs for when they will or will not ship. |

Just got the flight confirmation today. He's being shipped Sunday!! The breeders actually do it quite often and haven't had any issues. This is my first time. So far the whole thing has been hassle free. Hoping the shipping is also!  |

| We raise French Brittanys and we ship our puppies all the time. It really is no big deal and most our pups are bought sight unseen. We usually have deposits before our females whelp but I always send weekly picture updates so everyone can watch them grow :) The breeder shouldn't be offended if you ask for references. I would even call rather than email and I feel like it's a bit more personal.
I have shipped most of our breeding dogs and puppies in on the airlines from all over the U.S and even France with 0 problems. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | We have had dogs shipped many times that we have purchased. All were good experiences and we figured a 3 hour plane ride is less stressful then 12 hours in a vehicle.
Congrats on the new puppy! Boston's are the best!

| Well I checked references things seem to be on the up and up! Will be making road trip to Joplin next week to bring my lil Maggie home. Yes Bostons are the best this will be my third one. I'll post pics when I get her. |

| Congratulations on your new puppy. We are getting a Dalmatian puppy from a breeder in Co next year. We will be going to pick up puppy. As long as you stop & over night with puppy, all will be fine. We are excited to have another puppy. We lost our dalmatian almost 4 years ago & haven't had a dog since, but we are ready for another dal in our family. Enjoy your new puppy :) |
