I dropped the ball and replaced my 11 year old dodge/cummins with a 2016 version. I was pleasantly surprised that it already came equipped with the gooseneck hitch! That made about a 2,000 savings right there. Got the ball from the dealer and have made a few effortless trips with it. FOr those of you with newer dodges, are you leaving the ball in the truck 24/7 or taking it out after use?? I plan to just leave it in there full time but wanted to get opinions. Thanks!

We just ordered a 2017 that will arrive in December and opted for the factory turn over ball. They talked me out of the B&W which was slightly disappointing. But I'm assured this will operate the same with the same load ratings, etc. I will use this new one like I use my B&W in my 2006. I only flip the hitch over to "flat" when I need to use the bed of the pickup and having the hitch up will hinder its use.

Explain the $2,000 savings. Either way you bought a hitch in the truck. They did not give that hitch to you no matter what you think.

Well if you look at truck pricing , I paid the same amount for my fully loaded truck WITH hitch already installed than the models without. I guess what I meant to say is I didn't have to buy a truck then haul it and leave it at the shop for another 2k out of pocket for hitch to be installed. Lol and as for above , I'm leaving the ball in. I guess it's easily stolen but I will take my chances.

My Ford and Dodge both have the flip balls and when not in use I just flip them over and they are out of sight.

I bought a '14 last year with the ball install. Of course my truck was used but the ball was still brand new in bag along with tow hooks. I did have a hard time getting my lights on my '06 sooner to match up with the Dodge. Fixed that. The tow hooks were too fat for my trailer chain hooks so I ran 2 ton shackle through truck hooks and attach my chain hooks to them.

I had the dealer add hitch, plug, and tubes and it was not $2000. I leave the ball in truck all the time. I use the trailer a couple of times a week anyway so no point in removing.

Your not from California streaky sox. Lol you probably don't pay 700.00 a year for registration either. Lol we do.

Registration in TX is about $70. Sales Tax on a new vehicle is 8.5% though.

There was a post on the truck & trailer review on FB recently about those - and was the general consensus that the ball they are using is not as strong as the ones you have installed afterwards - plus, the location for the chains to hook up were really weird/not where they should be.

Daughter and her husband have a '15 that came with the gooseneck set up.  They did have to purchase the ball and tie down rings seperate.  Yes the tie downs are in a strange place but work fine.  As for the ball, they didn't take theirs out and now it is rusted in.  Same with our turn over ball.  We didn't remove and now its rusted in. I should add we also live in upstate NY.

Same here. I paid 8% sales tax PLUS 700+ a year for a 3/4 ton truck. Lord knows what this 1 ton will cost me. lol I will worry about that in a year. Gooseneck hitch installs out here run about 1500 for the cheapy ones and 2k+ for something like a BW.

I also have a 2016 and I leave mine in. I haul out 3-5 times a week so it would be too big of a hassle to take it in and out all the time.
