Had a horse pop up mysteriously with hive looking last weekend, all up and down his jaw neck and belly, then they burst and oozed - just like if you got into it when it was . Had another colt colic mildly the same morning.

The only thing we could come up with is the night before we'd lit a brush pile that blew smoke over the pasture. We had that wild parsnip crap pushed up in there.

The only thing we can come up with is that perhaps that parsnip crud carried in the wind. No clue if that was the cause but we wonder if the colt that colicked didn't invest some of it as well.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has brush piles to burn with that crap in there, might be cautious of it.

I had a gelding develop giant hives out of the blue the other day. None of the other horses developed anything like that, but these things were anywhere from 1-4" in diameter. He had about 50 of these. They didn't seem to bother him too much and they were decreased in number by about half within a day. I figured it was a bunch of wasps or something.
