I am just wondering how all the horses are doing and if there are any fun back up horses going or if everyone'e horse has stayed sound. There seemed to be a lot of chatter in years past about the horses. Maybe social media has changed all of this................

| Just watched the Sports Relgion show . It was OK. I think it could focused more on the care given to the animals and how much many have to travel to try to make the NFR. I wish it would have shown the fun times , too. It leaves a gloomy feeling as I turn the TV off. |

I read on BPozzi Fb pg that Steele Magnolia was going with Jana Bean and they are excited to watch her run at T&M.
I wonder if Cervi will crack out Stingray or Arson the 1st round?

Location: California | I thought the religion show was really good and was bummed when it was over! I do not know Ivy Conrado personally, but I did feel the show made her seem a little bratty. I appreciated the honesty of Fallon Taylor when she said she's an entrepreneur first and barrel racer second. Reminded me of Clinton Anderson. Good for them for making successful careers out of horses. Hard to do. And ofcourse Mary Burger is always just classy, she's really become a serious favorite of mine.

| I just watched this on directv channel 239 -- I have to upgrade to cbssports network to watch the nfr later - but my husband said he watched it, so i did a search and found it on this channel. After I watched it I have total respect for Ivy Conrado. That segment showed how tough it gets out there. She wasn't holding it back and I for one found that refreshing. I agree with her about those long trips. I remember that year that #15 won the world. I'm thinking it's a very real possiblity that #15 could do it this year. It is so exciting to anticipate. Even the smaller circuit I was on this past season I can definitely understand on a smaller level how grueling it can get. It's probably more tolerable if you're winning/placing though. But anyway, I think a whole lot of that young lady right now. What I realized more than I ever have before is that #1 you have to have the horse. You can be one of the top riders in the world but if you don't have "that horse" you are not going to be in the running to qualify for the NFR. Let the games begin!!! And don't you just love being in this world? I do!!! Good luck to everyone everywhere!!!

Location: Duvall, WA | I'm not sure if anyone can catch Mary just because she has such a big lead, but you all will for sure enjoy watching #15, our NW gal, Amber Moore. (FYI she choses to enter as Amberleigh Moore because apparently there is another Amber Moore rodeoing out there who kept getting her checks.) She is a "gamer," runs all the omoksee events, which means she is used to making ten runs a weekend in small lanes with two or three other horses running. It is quite likely that mare is going to LOVE the Thomas and Mack and running ten days in a row will be just fine for her. We are very excited for her! #runpaigerun |

I cant help but completely disagree. What I seen was a girl who only started riding at 17 to make her dad proud. Her dad even says "we made it to the NFR" When she wasn't placing or doing perfect she seemed to become very upset with herself as if she was letting her dad down.
On another note: I had no idea Stevi hilman trained previous NFR horses and now she's running herself. How cool! I'm rooting for her |

I didn't think Ivy was bratty at all! Since watching it, I hope she does well at the NFR! I liked how she and her dad kinda teased each other at one point. |

What I noted about that interview after she ran there was a person telling her what she did wrong. I lived by the 10 minute rule after a run...leave me alone and then discuss the positives and negatives. That was to in her face IMHO and might have left many cold, when she still had her game face on. Hope she does well in Vegas....
And for the record,I cried when I watched Fallon rubbing and kissing Flo's leg after her terrible fall/stumble.

It is aired live - slight delay for commercial breaks, but it is live. They're on Pacific time, so it just feels late if you're not on the west coast. |

We don't get CBS Sports...hubby said we could just change our cable plan for a week (he's a keeper).
But I remember in years past there was a BHW member who would video the barrel racing and post on YouTube... |

| I know the rundown on what channels the NFR will be on, but does anyone know if you will be able to watch it live either on the CBS Sports Roku channel (free) or through CBS All-Access Pass (pay for, but it's way cheaper than bumping my cable up)? We could purchase the All-Access Pass for $7 for the month, or it would be an additional $50 to bump up to the next cable package. Adding just CBS Sports to our cable isn't an option unfortunately. |

| Ivy did seem emotional, but I think she is a girl under A LOT of pressure. You can tell her dad's expectations are high. I am glad she chose to let the cameras capture that side of her. It came across very "real". I thought for a second that she shoudnt dwell so much on the negative but I realize that this documentary only shows a fraction of the picture. I absolutly love Tibby and was excited to get to know Ivy/Tibby a little better via the show. Mary was a class act. Fallon is always good for TV. I thought Sage Kimzy did a great job also. All in all a high quality, well shot, appealing segment. I think even non rodeo fans could appreciate. |

| BTW Michele posted a live video this morning headed to practice at the T&M. Apparently there was a prolonged meeting due to girls bringing several horses and only allowed one stall. I had not known this in the past. I guess the girls have to find somewhere to keep their back up horses during the finals. |

I'm pretty sure this is how it has been in the past but most girls take their horses off the grounds to stall them so they can be more comfortable and better facilities to exercise and rest the horses in. From what I've been told it is not the most accommodating setup for them. |

Stingray didnt seem like her normal self in the Thomas and Mack last year, couldnt seem to find her groove. Sherry did most of her qualifying this year on Arson so good to see him get the chance to prove what he started last year when he won round 10 with the fastest time of the NFR. |

Does anyone have an online link to this episode? The original site only has the first episode. I'd greatly appreciate a youtube version anytime!! |

| Sheri posted tonight that Stingray stayed home due to an abscess developing before they were set to leave. Mad respect to her for not even bringing her to see if she would be good for a later round, truly putting the horse first.
Kimmie Wall has Natalie Foutch's horse Orville as a backup. We get smoked by him pretty regularly around here, she brought him to a couple smaller jackpots last month with her younger horse. We all want to see Foxie do well but man it'd be awesome to see a horse you know personally run down that alley!!! |

It's free. ProRodeolive.com to listen on your computer. If you already have Sirius is on channel 147. There is also an app I believe, Live 365, and then search ProRodeolive.com to listen on your iPhone or iPad. |

Location: Dearing, GA | I cried earlier watching the video Michele, Lisa and Sherry made for Nancy Hunter, when they released gold and purple balloons (gold for childhood cancer, purple for pancreatic cancer, which Nancy has). Sherry couldn't even finish her sentence without tearing up. I'm so sad Nancy is struggling with cancer, and have really been praying for her family to have some peace this year. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | Good first round, poor ivy I don't know if it was tibby overturning the 2nd which set her up on the wrong side of the 3rd or if he slightly ducked it, it all happens so fast, I hope she makes a comeback tonight! Sarah came on strong too, looks like bling slipped or stumbled on that first slightly and just knocked it coming out! Of course they're one of my favorite teams since she ran with us down here for a while. Jana Bean had a super nice, quiet and well executed run! Congrats to all for a nice first round |

Location: Arizona | I noticed a few slips and bobbles at the rate points going in and around the barrels, but overall I think the ground looks way better than last year. Hard to say in Round 1 how much can be attributed to ground and how much can be attributed to the horses and riders just adjusting to the overall setup. These were the slips I noted:

I didn't think they had trouble with it like they have in years past, just noticed that some horses did have a few slips. Suppose that is me being too picky and looking at the small details. |

I know they don't go in the same tracks but I noticed the heading horses had some trouble also. One lost his hind end turning the steer. I don't think the problem is totally fixed because there were some slips. I also think some had trouble getting the correct line to first and it made them tip on the back side. Just my observations. |

Pretty sure Ivy didn't bring a backup horse. But I don't expect Tibbie to do it again. I think she was just scared of the wall. She's young, it's a tiny bright yellow pen. You could see her not wanting to run to it on the 2nd, Ivy really struggled to get her in there, then after she hit Ivy quit riding to the third. No doubt Ivy will be anticipating that hesitation for Round 2. |

| I agree, not sure about the ground. Although better. I Didn't see the horses try to set & then get front endy like the past from being so hard but seen lots of back feet slipping & a back foot or two sticking hard in the ground causing to blow out or hit! Didn't seem to really have enough moisture & depth... watch steer wrestlers try to get in it & ahold, they couldn't!

BHW's Lil Twirp

| I watched and cannot even imagine what it feels like to run in the T & M like those incredbile riders. The pressure they must feel and coming down the alley for the 1st (or tenth) time has to be MIND BLOWING. The ground is HORRIBLE -- why can they not get it together? Someone who qualifed for the NFR a few times (in roping) told me this week that Shawn Davis owns the dirt and keeps it in boxes stored in Vegas. The problem is (I was told) it holds no moisutre. They need to drag and put some water on it!
WOW we can all play Monday AM Quarter Back but a 13 second run!!! There is a LOT Of repetitive motion of PERFECT habits you have to do in 13/14 seconds. Besides the ground being cruddy - you dont see the 1st until you are upon it. I hear them say you have to "drive" all the way to 2nd that visually its misleading. I am sure those yellow walls approach you at Mach .10
After looking at Ivy's run 20 times - Ivy stopped kicking and set her body up to make the turn about a stride too quickly. When Ivy set, "Tibbie" turned early and they popped 2nd. Just like at the American Ivy was still one handed in her turn and she was leaning slightly in her body postion to the left and was soaking in the nanosecond of what just happened - and mentally that it happened at the first round of the biggest barrel race of her life. She is 21 years old -- its POLARIZING!
I look forward to watching the next 9 nights and seeing all the jitters out of everyones system.
I loved watching the "Veteran Marys" ... Mary Burger & Mary Walker. Also I cannot mention "Veteran" without mentioning Jackie Ganter riding "Recent Release" / "R" who is 19 years YOUNG! He looked amazing!! I have always loved him and watching him is such a treat.
I heard she called Kristi Schiller about him and he was not for sale becuase her little girl was riding him. Then her daughter agreed that Jackie needed him more. The rest is history and hopefuilly they make history as well togeher this week. I hope every contestant has fun trying! Please WRAPSNAP do the commentary!!! |
