I own a very easy keeper who is out on pasture, 24/7 during the summer and on hay 24/7 throughout the harsh winters of Northern MN. Last year, he got half a scoop of Triple Crown Complete once a day and ridden 3-5 times a week, with it still being tough keeping the weight off of him.
I recently had the opportunity to try Omnis Cubes, which I plan on using this summer. Like I said previously, he is only fed once a day due to having to board him at the moment unfortunately.
Danco recommends feeding 2% of your horses body weight over 2 servings (which would roughly be about 18-20lbs). I feel like that is entirely too much for one feeding. I'm kind of perplexed as to what I should do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am new to feeding cubes of any kind.

THANK YOU

No. He will still be on pasture! No hay in the summer unless we are traveling. Sorry that was unclear.

PM Tdove on here. He feeds only Omni to some of his horses, plus he is a dealer for them.

Why would you put him on cubes in the summer if he is on pasture 24/7?

I would feed him according to how he holds his weight. I have a 24 yr old gelding that I grain once a day (1/2 pound) but has free choice hay. He is FAT.

You may want to consider doing a ration balancer so he gets all of his needed vitamins and minerals or do the loose minerals like some do on the board.

Edited to add I also board my horse. I do self care and chose to only go out once a day to feed.

I have chosen to put him on the cubes because it is not a great pasture. It gets overgrazed pretty quickly during the summer. And yes, he his on a vitamin and mineral supplement and also has access to mineral/salt blocks at all times.
