Andrea Busby announced the passing of Skye on Facebook. Very sad.
"It is with very heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Kelly’s Chick, better known as Skye by those who loved her. Skye contracted a very rare fungal infection in her sinus that quickly developed into meningitis. Though she was one of the TOUGHEST mares most have ever seen, the aggressiveness of the infection was even too much for her. Though our hearts are broken into a million pieces, we are forever grateful for the time that we were lucky enough to own and experience life with Skye. She was a superstar. A champion mare with a heart as big as the sky itself. She was a blessing as big as her presence. We admire the heart and strength of those who love and create bonds with their animals as we do because the pain is real, but we are comforted knowing that your thoughts and prayers are with ALL who loved our powerful Skye. She will live on forever in our hearts - run free Skye - run free."

Ima go out on a limb here and say the people that actually paid elventy gozillion dollars for her might be a bit upset also.
Prayers for all who loved her no matter if money was involved or not in the relationship. I just watched the Purina documentary last night on her and Michelle. Heaven got another 4 legged angel. . . .

While I agree they are heartbroken, to say Muchelle made that mare isn't exactly true. Conrado's originally owned her and did pretty well with her as a futurity colt before Michelle ever swung a leg over her.
Prayers to all the people that had a hand in the career of this amazing horse. Very sad deal for all of them.
