Location: South Texas | I don't post much but would appreciate thoughts & prayers today. I had to put one of my horses down today and am feeling pretty low right now. He wasn't a super star to anybody but me and 2 of my friends that I loaned him to when their horses were on injured reserve. He was as honest as they come and he thought he was a super star so I treated him that way. He was given to me by my Dad as a weanling and he was either 21 or 22 when I put him down. Shortly before my Dad passed away he asked that I give J.R. a forever home and I'm glad that I was able to do that. I know Dad is feeding J.R. carrots right now. I'm really going to miss the big dude! He was a cool horse and I'm glad I got to run him all these years. It's going to be tough going to the barn to feed tonight. J.R.'s mares were really missing him this morning so I know they are going to be looking for him tonight at supper time. |

Location: Florida | I'm so sorry, I know how that feels, like most of us do on this board. The joy of loving animals will always beat out the pain of losing them, except for times like this. But the joy will win out and the good memories will take over. Hang in there.

Take pride in honoring your dad's request and the love you showed both of them.

So many horses don't get that; you and your family blessed JR for many years. Tonight he's with your daddy and boy are they doing some catching up |
