| I don't remember an NFR being this consistently fast and close! The grounds crew definitely has made a difference.
Not sure what was up with Latte at the first, kind of got stoppy on his front end trying to rate there? He hasn't had particularly impressive times compared to some of the others this week, did she bring her young horse with her? |

| So much fun to watch, this is what the NFR should be, kudos to the ground crew for finally giving them a venue where they can show why they are the top 15. I sure didn't think anyone could catch Mary. She has been on fire and I thought for sure she would place in every round keeping that gigantic lead. I love her but I hope this is Lisa and Louie's year to take the championship.

| It's amazing the difference good ground makes. It's finally a horse race instead of whoever handles trash ground the best. This group of horses is no more talented than those in years past. The difference is that the ground isn't holding them back and they are finally able to showcase their abilities. It's sure fun to watch! |

Every single round, I say "Ok Lisa, keep all 3 up and just get in there for a check." LOL! I want her and Louie to win the world SO BADLY!! That is the only thing that team has left to still put on their resume. Plus I can't name anyone more deserving! |

Yes!! I was heart broken last year when that barrel came down. I have nerves watching her just like I did when watching my own kids compete, lol. |

Me too on the nerves!! There are 14 other fantastic teams of barrel racers/horses but I am cheering for Lisa and Louie. It is their turn and I couldn't think of anyone more genuine and deserving!! Louie gives me chills when he runs!! |

So crazy to think how bad the ground was last year, and how awesome it's been so far this year. I wonder what they did different? Whatever they did, it's working and it's holding great. At this rate .... will the arena record be broken this year? |

I read a FB post the other day that was from someone who has competed at the NFR and she said that there was no way to measure and true "arena record" since the pattern size has been changed so many times over the years. What do you all think? |

| I agree.. The record will likely be broken this year, but to me, its not a true record as the ground has been changed. Also, its not like there are lasers on the markers, so each year it could vary simply with different people setting the pattern. |

Honestly, I was wondering if someone set the timer up wrong with all those FAST FAST times, LOL. Didn't seem possible!
Yes, of course, human error is possible and the pattern is not laser marked. |

| While I know Lisa and Louie deserve it I really want Mary to win it. I was there in 2006 when her and Fred won it and now to be the oldest competitor there it would just be fantastic for her to win another. Reminds me that even though I'm 30 and haven't made it to the "big time" yet there is still time! |

Yes but to be fair arenas change and improve footing on a regular basis, climate affects it, the person driving the tractor affects it, so even at an arena that has had good footing for years, there's differences between any given day.
I'm just glad it's significantly safer than it has been in the past and they feel comfortably going after the arena record.
regardless of ground and stakes vs lasers it is a freaking awesome year at the NFR!
Even the team roper fiancé has found himself cheering for them |

I think everybody realizes that, the reference to fast times is that usually a 13.76 would win the round it didn't even a draw check in last nights round. |

I heard she didn't, and I'm bummed as I have a Bug In My Frosty as well. Would have loved to see her's run at the NFR. But go Amber! So excited to see the NW gals doing so well. |

I don't know anything about the pattern changing over the years. I would assume since the arena is the same size they would use the same exact measurements each year. On my tv it looks like the same little triangle. LOL |

My mom and I were both thinking this. Not to belittle or doubt that the horses couldn't BE that fast but they were all consistently faster. I thought it looked like first barrel was off its marker but it could have been the pyrotechnic marker. Luckily nobody knocked the first over so we'll never know.
Very exciting though how close the competition is this year!! |
