Location: Kansas | I know you said you do not like HP, but my laptop is a 6 yr old HP and has no trouble handling Photoshop, On1, Topaz, Corel Painter, etc. What ever you get you need lots of RAM. I currently have 8, next computer I will have more |

Location: Southern Indiana | I have an HP that I got for xmas 2 years ago and don't care for it much. I hate the touch pad. I wish I'd gotten another dell. My 2008 model still works pretty good. I hate the new windows! Therefore I use my iPad 95% of the time. |

| I can't get an hp. I am returning one already. It was super slow and hot after being on for only 1 hr. It was preloaded with software and had tons of "junk" on it i would never use. One I had in the past lasted two years. I've had better luck with others brands. Not sure why because I know hp is popular.
Im glad hp is working for you though! I'm looking at maybe trying a dell. I don't like their customer service but the dell I had before lasted me 4 yrs and would have lasted longer if I hadnt spilled coffee on it and ruined it. |

Location: CTX | My last one was a Sony Vaio, and last year it needed to be replaced after 5 or 6 years. Of course Sony discontinued them, so I had to find something else. I now have a Macbook Pro, and I love it. No dealings with windows, and so much easier now with my Iphone and Ipad. I can get calls and texts on my mac, so even when my phone is not near I can still talk or text. And a good thing is also they are less prone to catching a virus! |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | I am looking for a new one too. My suggestion is to find what you want and then price shop Amazon (No sales tax). I have been watching a Dell for a couple of weeks and they dropped the price another $20 today. I don't want one with the new Windows 10 since I have an older version of Microsoft Office (2000) that won't work with it and I LIKE Windows 7. |

Location: California | I've had my Macbook Pro for about 8ish years. Maybe 9? It still performs great. I did have to take it in once about 5 years ago to replace the battery because it overheated/stayed hot. Other than that, as long as I keep up with the updates, it works amazing. Also, this thing has fallen off my bed more than once when I crashed out with it on my bed LOL |

Location: Texas | I have a Dell Latitude E6510 that I purchased used from a family friend before I left for boot camp. I've had it now for about 6 years and never had a problem with it and it's been through a lot. I've dropped it on concrete a few times accidentally, spilled lots of water on it, unintentionally drowned it in coffee and it's still alive and kicking. Works great for web browsing, photoshop, corel video studio, etc. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | I use laptops for work and personal use. Have had Acer (good) HP (Liked it) Gateway (pretty good) Lenovo (work buys us these...good) and personal use is a Lenovo Yoga. I really like the Yoga. Hate touch pads on all of them. I get a wireless mouse so I don't have to use the touch pad. The Yoga is a touch screen as well, makes it handy when working in a car.

I'm with you. I would never do HP again. Mine lasted 6 months and trying to get it fixed was a joke so I traded it in on a Toshiba. Mine is also now over 5 years old and my hinge is messed up so I'm also looking. |

Location: BFE, Texas | I use a Toshiba...it's an '03 model if that tells you anything about lasting. It was my nephew's when he was in college. It's outlasted 3 HP tower models !! I mostly use my IPad for browsing now since it's lightweight and I can carry it around easier. |

Location: Central Texas | I have a Dell touchscreen laptop that can convert to a "tablet". The screen just folds all the way backward to create the "tablet" effect. I highly recommend you DON'T buy one like this. The screen will randomly get sensitive and do funky things. The internet sucks on it. I can watch netflix in my living room on my TV just fine, but the computer will drop internet connection or just won't open web pages on multiple browser platforms. I'm hoping to get a Macbook soon and get rid of this one. |

I had this issue with my Lenovo Yoga...it was brand new so I contacted Lenovo tech support. They fixed it for me with a software update. I was ready to bust it in half! But since I had them fix it, took about 30 minutes watching a guy take over my machine, it works great and I love having the flexibility of a tablet and laptop in one. |

Agree 100%.
I had 2 separate Sony Vaio's that each lasted 5/6 years.
When I found out they were discontinued I switched to the Macbook Pro. It has taken some time for me to become accustomed to the Mac world... but the operating system is wonderful. |

Location: Nor Cal | I recently switched from a Sony to a Macbook Pro. I LOVE the Macbook! It's so user friendly, runs way faster then my other computer did, and I feel like the battery lasts a long time and charges up really fast. I also have an iPhone so I like it cause I can 'airdrop' photos to my computer and not have to worry about messing with cords and all that. |
