Will you just be able to stay around Phoenix as all the neat things to see is North and South of Phoenix. The closest thing would be Tonto National Forest to the North.

The Phoenix zoo is pretty neat if you have time to go through it. It took me about 6-8 hours to see everything. If you like hiking there are plenty of trails in the area.

We're in Buckeye for the winter, White Tank Mountain has nice trails if you want to do some hiking. Haven't been to the zoo yet but hear it's pretty good. If you can make it up to Sedona, do it. It's gorgeous. There's quite a few tack shops around as well that you can google. Wickenburg is a cute town (roping central!) so there's some cute shops there, more tourist-y type so a good day trip. I'll post more as I think of it.

First evening adventure is RUSTLER'S ROOSTE ...
get there before sunset and watch the valley turn on ..
and shake horns with Horney the guest greeter at the front door .. https://rustlersrooste.com/
Local .. University football field NFL Cardinals play there too .. lava rock water fall with palms and you can see it on TV rest of your life ... big baseball dome with moving roof .. I was there when they installed the gigantic beams across the roof at 5-7am of a morning before the girders got hot and expanded and would not fit .. still an amazing feature..
If you want to see some Arizona with no destination ... drive to Payson ... GPS ... over to Show Low and pickup Hwy 60 back to PHX .. nice trip to take a picnic on ..
Enroute to Sedona on 179.. keep your eyes out for the Chapel of the Holy Cross ... the chapel plays hide and seek with you as you travel to it and then go on to Sedona and remember this area a lot of major westerns were made so you may remember some of the rock formations etc etc .... Flagstaff is only 30 miles away and you get to see some mountains and ski slopes with no snow which is a good thing ... take a jacket if you intend to get out of your vehicle .. and take I-17 back to PHX ...

There's snow now. ?I actually recomend Tombstone. Big Nosed Kate's and the Birdcage theater are extremely interesting (and haunted.)

Glendale glitters is cool, the whole downtown lights up at night, Phoenix Zoo has Zoo lights at night as well...neat to see. There's a great steakhouse at the top of south mountain called The T-bone Steakhouse (19th Ave & Dobbins)...great views, good food!! Wickenburg is a great little town you can go through there and up Yarnell hill through Peeples Valley and onto Prescott...great trip and so much to see!
