Just wondering if anyone has had success with dosing the cur-ost total at one scoop/day? I have a gelding with no issues that I would love to put on it just for preventative/maintenance but wondering if I could have him at a lower dose and still get the benefits?

Thank in advance :) Great to have such a knowledgeable crew to shoot these questions out to!

We use it at one scoop a day for maintenance. Works for our horses. I did do the loading dose though.

I have 3 head and thats precisely what I do!!! I used the loading dose on all three as directed then went back to 1 scoop a day and it has worked awesome at maintaining them. Two of them don't really have issues but my allergy guy has maintained awesome on 1 scoop.

Oh that's great to hear! my allergy horse is turned out and I've kept her on two scoops but if I could go down to 1 I'd be thrilled, even just for the time she's turned out!

I have a mare with severe head shakers syndrome, I put her on the Total, couldn't afford to do the loading dose. In 4 days I knew we were on the right path, in 2 weeks I knew that we cannot be without this product for her.

That's incredible! The cur-ost products have been life changing for my mare. But I can't afford to have everyone on them at the dosages recommended. But knowing that you saw results without loading dose is encouraging!!!

Dr. Schell just added a new product called Revive I think. You should go to the secondvet.com to read what he was saying about it. I am pretty sure it is cheaper than the Total and is for respiratory problems. It sounds like it is more what y'all are looking for.

I probably could on my other horses but my horse that had allergies I don't dare. I tried to lower once and had to play catch up, wasn't worth it!

I started her on Revive and am LOVING what I'm seeing.

Awesome to hear about the single scoop. I've been thinking about putting mine on it in the spring - no noticeable issues but the human version has made me feel great!

Another option rather than reducing the Total would be to go with the Green or the Plus.  The new Revive product is doing some pretty amazing things as well, but they aren't 100% sure yet if it can totally replace the Total or if you can cut the dosage and maintain.  Some pretty exciting things happening at Nouvelle!  Love Dr. Schell and these products.  What they do for a horse (and human) from a health perspective and managing inflammation is pretty incredible!

Oh herbie I was hoping you'd comment!! I was thinking about ordering the revive this next time too! It sounds like another phenomenal supplement.
I wish we could figure out a way to get it approved for distributionup here without it costing a million dollars. Such a great product line.

I haven't used the Revive yet, but Smokingirlie has and she really likes it.  She's recently backed the Total Support down to a half scoop to see if she can maintain.  I'm excited to try it on my COPD guy when I get back to riding!

Have you spoken with Molly or Dr. Schell about distributing?  Might be some options there, never know!

Ya, I talked to Molly. Unfortunately it's quite the cost to get Canadian approval :( I would love to distribute... I believe in these products so much!

Yes I am but she has A LOT going on health wise. Once I get her back on track I might try to drop total down to 1 scoop per day. Revive is an amazing product though for helping issues.

Question - the website says a bag of the Cur Ost Pure is 481oz and that a scoop is 1 oz and the maintenance dosage is 1 scoop per day.

I went to school pre common core so maybe that's my issue, but that works out to more the 28 doses per bag? And also makes it affordable.

I'm guessing a bag isn't really 481 oz though, can anyone clarify that?

The total says 900 some ounces and 2-3oz doses..

It's not ounces on the bag, its grams. So a bag is 481 grams. If you break it down grams to ounces then it's exactly the number of days on the bag. Hope that helps.

So are you just using the Revive now on your COPD mare ? Or are you using both Revive and Total?

Would love to know what you are seeing! I am going to place an order and may get some Revive.

Thanks!

So I decided to order my colt some revive. He tends to get flat and hoping this will help him. If I like what I'm feeling I'm going to stick my mare who's on the total on that too when I start her back up. Super excited to give it a try!!!

Yes I am using Total also, and am testing the waters with 1 scoop Total with 1 3/4 scoop Revive.
So far so good!
