Location: NE TX | Rebuilding my drug box cause I've let it go the last few years. I saw a post about 6mo or a year ago about this but can't find it again.
What do y'all include in your MUST HAVE drugs?
I currently have Bute (paste), banamine, and lasix. I also keep Bio-Sponge paste from Platinum on hand for upset tummies. Electrolyte paste as well. I also like to keep cough Ease on hand.
I have a list started to pick up from my vet: guanabenz, Dex, and ace.
Just curious what everyone else keeps on hand. |

I should get some buscopan, banamine, and dex. I haven't been able to get Guanabenz in months - is it available again? |

The one time I really needed it was during a trailer accident, and I left it sitting on the counter. My rig usually doesn't travel without it.
I have a shameless friend that knows I've got my box with me, and she'll rifle it as needed. Ah, friends you've known since you were little, don't ya love em?

about what mine is.
But instead of sutures I have a staple gun.
I'm not very good with a suture kit and if it's bad enough to be closed up asap a staple works faster.
That's what works for me. All folks are different

They're a great deal faster! I hadn't thought about getting a gun, I only carry the sutures in case it's something within my capabilities or I can't get to a vet. Usually when it needs more than superglue I'm on the phone getting a vet out of bed, cause you know it never happens during normal hours! |

 You get what you give

Location: Texas | For those of you who carry suture and or staples in your kits to close lacerations, you should add disinfectants like betadine or chlorhexidine to dilute into water and use to clean the wounds in addition to any saline you may be using to clean. |

Location: So Cal | The things mentioned above- bute, banamine, electrolytes, dex, ace... I also have robaxin, xylazine if you have a vet who will leave you some... always a big bottle of SMZs!
Then all the wound care stuff which I guess wasn't the question, BETADINE is a must and a lot of the time all you need. Wonder Dust if something is already getting proud flesh. Vet wrap, maxi pads, gloves, etc. |
