| Do you feed oats? What kind of hay do you feed with it or supplements do you add?
Thanks for your input and advice in advance! |

| I feed a grass/alfalfa mix, a 16 oz sour cream container of renew gold and a 32 oz container of oats or strategy depending on the horse. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I do, it was what was recommended to feed with the Cur-ost supplements and with all the problems with the tainted feed I kind of wanted to get away from the more processed feeds out there. I feed it with grass alfalfa mix to 2 of mine and then add renew gold to it and breadless wheat/oat hay to my mare with kidney stones. Renew Gold is on the list of manufacturers that doesn't mill medicated cattle feeds which was one of my biggest deciding factors and we needed a bit more fat in her diet. |

| 1 cup of renew gold, alfalfa, 1/2 scoop of oats, turned out 24/7 except for weather, still lots of grazing where I live. |

| I am feeding a 3lb mixture of oats, alfalfa pellets, peas, pumpkin seeds I also do some herbs that I am mixing right now. My horses love it and are doing really well. They are typically on a mixed hay and I use horsetech high point grass supplement for some. I had an issue this year and all 20 of my horses had gut issues, ulcers, leaky gut ect they are coming along very nicely now and healing up. |

| I did for a while but was having a hard time finding good clean oats.. so I stopped. Was finding whole corn and other odd pellets in them. |

Location: ND | Mine are all on grass hay/pasture. The few that get grain get plain oats & if I need a supplement I use THE products. |

Location: Where you need a paddle... Oregon! | Grass hay, alfalfa hay, 4 lbs whole oats, sour cream container of rice bran, sour cream container of alfalfa pellets. I don't usually feed the rice bran and alfalfa pellets with it, but I bought a bunch of broken bags off the sale rack at the local feed store so I've been adding them since the price was so good. |

Location: North Dakota | Whole oats to both my horses with Cur-OST.
My older gelding gets 1/3 cup whole flax with his whole oats.
I'm just going to start to add 1 oz Camelina oil a day to my mare's feed rather than whole flax to get her some omega 3,6,9s as she seems to like an oil on her feed better than the whole flax and Camelina oil has great 3:6:9 ratios. |

They are split peas like you get at the grocery store. I have been buying from the health food store but can buy on line from several places and hoping to get hooked up with a local producer next year since we are making so much feed I will not be able to keep up buying in small amounts. |

Location: Silver Lake, MN | I feed whole oats, whole flax and CurOst as well. Hay is grass and alfalfa. The horses look amazing!!! This is my gelding after about a month off...it's winter here and he still looks really good to me. I'm super happy with what the feeding program has done for my horses. I have a PSSM mare that is doing fantastic on this diet as well.

Why do you feed split peas? |

Location: West Texas | Peas are very high in protein and energy. I am assuming she is adding protein without using soy products. I agree with that. |

I like the protein and won't feed soy anymore so have been trying the peas. The hay in our area tends to be very low in protein even the alfalfa. I have been working on it for a while trying to get it all right. The horses do seem to love them and we have limited options for grain here especially if you want to stay in a safe mill so just doing my own thing. |

Location: Willows, CA | there are some sound reasons to feed peas. Pretty good quality protein, a nice source of lysine. Sherry Cervi tested a formulation for me several years ago that included peas, and liked the result. |

I am learning more than I ever planned to about all of this. I have so many to feed that this has been a good option I plan to get my whole formula tested to see where we are at with it. |
