I am looking for a really good icing recipe to decorate sugar cookies.   Would anyone be willing to share their favorite?

Thanks in advance!

This is one I like if I'm doing "Fancy" cookies. It dries to a nice sheen- its soft and tasty to eat. It does take a little time to set completely and while you can touch and not leave a mark, you really can't stack. I like it better than the hard royal icing. This is a sort of flowing icing - used to flood cookies. you can add a bit more powdered sugar or meringue powder for a stiffer icing. If I'm going to outline cookies, I use a royal icing to do that.

2 lb powdered sugar
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup corn syrup
approx. 2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond
3 Tablespoons Meringue Powder

We use Alton Brown's royal icing recipe.  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/royal-icing-recipe.html. It tastes and looks good, although my decorating skills could use some help!

I cook ok but one thing I can make amazing is sugar cookies! I use cream cheese/powdered sugar for the frosting and everyone loves it! I will try to get the recipe when I get home. I also have a great recipe for cookies.
