Bear - 2016-12-20 9:16 PM Of course now there is a movement afoot to dropping the Electoral College, and switching to the popular vote, in the aftermath of Gore and Hillary winning the popular vote but losing the EC. I find this very amusing, but not at all surprising. The Dems can focus on the high population urban centers, some made up of over 50% minorities. They can flip off the rural areas and states if that happens. Hillary lost the election because she was a weak, inept, sh!tty, corrupt congenital liar......and Trump's message resonated. If they held the election again today, Trump would whup her flatulent ass even worse, including the popular vote. Hillary spent $1.2 Billion, to Trump's $600 million. She didn't even visit Wisconsin, and Trump stole it out from under her nose. It was a masterful campaign. He worked his ass off giving as much as 7 stump speeches a day and he never let up. Hillary had all these entertainers and celebrities, along with Bill and the Obamunists campaigning for her and the voters rejected them too. She spent too much time at fund raisers in the Hamptons, while Trump just out hustled her. Since 11/9, Trump has been busting his ass non-stop. The guy never lets up. This is how many successful people win......hard work.

jd&ez - 2016-12-21 7:57 AM There was never a question that the electoral college would do it's job. All the other stuff was just noise. It's terrible when it happens that the popular vote winner doesn't win the election but there's a reason the founding fathers set it up.



Being from one of the less populated states that it was designed to protect I don't want to see it changed even though I don't like the outcome this time.



Trump is the presdent. he deserves our support until and unless he shows he doesn't deserve it. 



My biggest problem with Trump is his saying that America is not a great country now. But the majority of voters didn't seem to mind and even embraced him for saying it.



I do disagree with my fellow democrat that say that Trump divided us across racial and ethnic lines. He did not. What he did was shine a light on what was already there.



But, if he keeps his campaign promises most of that stuff will go away or go back into hiding.

If someone says that America is not as great as it once was in their opinion then I can respect that statement even though I disagree with it.



When someone says that America is not grat, which is what Trump said, then I vehemently disagree and always will.



I actually believe that what Trump was saying was more racial, or more to incite the racists to action, than a statement on the well being of the country. But I don't know Trump so I can only surmise what he meant. I've never heard his explanation of what he meant if he has provided one.



But it's water under the bridge. All politicians says things when running for office.



To the victor goes the spoils. I don't like many of Trump's cabinet appointments. But he won so he has the right to pick who he wants. And they should be ratified barring some criminal activity or something like that pops up. They should not be denied by congress just because of politics. Again, to the victor goes the spoils.



He has a GOP house and senate. There is nothing to stand in his way of governing as he choses. Good or bad. I certainly hope it's for the good. I don't fear that he will be bad because I don't live in fear. If he's bad he will be bad fast and he's outta there in 4 years.



As for my title a top lib or whatever it was, I am a yellow dog democrat. And I am a fiscal conservative. For some reason people seem to think that those two things cannot exist together. That's because of media spin and especially the likes of Faux News.



If I were given the power I would abolish welfare with the stroke of a pen. I would abolish affirmative action programs but I would come down hard on discrimination. I am fundamentally against abortion but not in favor of abortion being illegal.



If that all still makes me top lib then I can handle it.

rodeomom3 - 2016-12-21 12:55 PM  This, highlighted yellow, the racial divide that has never been as bad as the atmosphere that was created in the last eight years.    It has not brought to the forefront issues that were hidden , we all know racism is out there. "Racism" was a term used  whether it applied to not  by the current administration and created the divide  without any attempt to resolve the issues, a card well played to garner votes.  When people see racism in every single issue they need to look internally and see why/who created that thought process.   For the life of me I don't see how you equate him saying our country is not great to being a racial issue.   I agree with previous comments ,people needing therapy because Trump one is evidence of a weaker society ,  safe spaces on college campuses,  the thought that you should never be offended and it's an issue if you are, etc.  



I am not one to see racism in everything but I am also not one to try and say it's not there.



I don't know if Trump is a racist or a bigot because I don't know Trump. I do know that Trump says racist things and says bigoted things and he makes racists feel as though he is one of them The KK has not stopped celebrating since the election.



While Trump may not be one of them, they think he is.

As to Trump's statements, open to interpretation, most were taken out of context others I see how they could be seen as racists.   True about the KKK but the mistake is in profiling the majority of Trump supporters by the worst of the rhetoric out there.  How many KKK members are there, a few thousand?   The millions that voted for Trump are not defined by these few thousand.   I was not a Trump supporter as much as I was an anti Hillary Clinton political machine.  My original question, how is his statement making America great again tied to racism?

My opinion is that Trump is racist. Again, I don't know Trump. That's my opinion though. But my opinion is based on what he says and who he associates with.



And there's been plaenty of talk about the racist comments he made everyday on the set of The Apprentice. Now Tom Arnold says he has those recordings to back it up. But the way he mocked that handicapped reporter? It's not a leap to believe that he has disdain for anyone not like him.



Yes the Clinton campaign said it was code for Make America White Again. I believe that to be true.



Bill Clinton just said this past weekend that "Trump knew how to get angry white men to vote for him". And Bill was being complimentary. And he is right. Trump knew how to puch those buttons and he pushed them.



Politically I don't really have a problem with Trump. He's been a domocrat all his life. Only reason he didn't run as a democrat was because he couldn't have gotten the nomination.



But people wanted change. There's a void that the people saw. Trump filled that void. I hope I'm completely wrong about him and he shows me that I am. If he's good for this country then he's good for me.



I'm a small business owner. If he's good for my clients then that will also be good for me. A rising tide lifts all boats.  We can only pray that he is that rising tide.

Love the electoral college - for those of you that are crying - we survived obama you will survive Trump  - electoral college is in place for a reason. No the election should not won by popular vote..  I don't think our country is as great as it once was:  Why

1.  we have so many people out of work

2.  we have a lot of cry babies, entitlements minded millineluals and some not millenulas (sp?) that think everybone owes them something: being free college, don't have to work, momma/daddy will give it to me. I should make $17 mimiium pay for a minimium pay job. give me give me - free phone free everything.  Sorry that is not how the world works.... I work for everything I have now....

3. look how divided we are - that is not Mr. Trump's fault - that is the past president soon to be - the media which has helped create the divide, and our education (colleges and the liberalism that runs amuck ) professors  that teach BS to our kids.

4.  Parents that have demanded that all our kids get a particpation ribbon - REALLY - there are winners and there are losers and

Hillary Lost - get over it -  I got over Obama .

5. so many people are out of work - what does that country produce>  What does this country make anymore?   we have so many on welfare, food stamps unemployment - becuase the "HOPE" went - the "HOPE " is returning............. did I mention I'm glad Trump won?  yay

6.  Military we are weak - I want a strong military - the world does not respect us as we once were -  we aren't a strong country as we use to be - Mr. Trump will bring that back. 

7.  we disrepect our veterans - they protected you and I for us to be able to write all this and not get thrown in jail.  



I could go on and why this country is not "great" as she used to be - But we can sure bring her back....

For those that say you are "scared" about Trump - I was more "scared" with whom is the current President -  Trump will protect the borders, and protect our country.

Everyone knows exactly what he was getting at with that slogan, and I think it was a brilliant choice. We aren't as great as we should be or could be by a long shot. American exceptionalism has been replaced with American mediocrity. The "United" States of America is "divided" in so many ways, more than ever before. Trump has been consistent on the vast majority of his issues throughout his life. Yes, he's been a Democrat, just like Reagan was a Democrat.
