I know quite a few girls at the NFR have backup horses that belong to someone else, or are offered backup horses. How does that work if they use them? Or even using someone else's horse to rodeo to get them to that point....

I know it's up to the individuals, but does anyone else have experience with this? Obviously the rider would pay all expenses, but how do the winnings work? Or what if they didn't end up using the horse but just had it there incase? Or did use it, but didn't end up winning anything?

My thoughts I'm pondering for the day....much more fun to think about than the things I should be doing!

I was curious about this as well!

Like would they have to run "blank" horse a certain amount of days? Or just at free will?

There are a couple ways of doing it. You can run the horse for a flat fee per run OR percentage of the winnings. Or combination of the two. I have seen it where it was 30 percent of winnings OR flat fee of like 1500 a run. But this was at NFR not regular rodeos.
