| They are cutting/foundation. But I have a Jimmez Playboy daughter that was an ex reiner. Super smart, well put together, athletic and FAST!! Some of the speed might have come from her old time race breeding in the back of her pedigree (Go Man Go ) |

| Awesome!! I'm just worried about the speed, I know the gelding has an awesome handle and will turn great! |

But with that being said my mare is a cutter reject with no running blood at all and she is a 1D horse, yes she can get outran sometimes due to speed but she has a huge heart and loves to turn. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | In my experience the Freckles Playboy horses have speed. Have some good friends running Freckles Playboys successfully on the barrels. The Peppy San Badger horses we have had are quick and powerful. We have had broodmares sired by Teninolena Badger and Dual Pep, both sons of Peppy San Badger. Colts out of these mares have been very quick and powerful but were not huge runners. |

| I figure will be quick and catty in the turns making it a good small pen / rodeo horse. Might not excel in larger pens but we don't have them around here. The horse is a dead broke 3 year old, so looks like I might as well try!! |

| I have a double bred peppy san badger gelding, he's a grandson of dual leo on top and Haidas little pep on the bottom.
He has a great mind and is a blast to ride and be around.
He's quick on his feet and has taken to barrels like a fish to water. He runs in 4 wheel drive and has very smooth fluid turns, doesn't need a lot of pocket or huge rate - very push style, but can scrape the paint off them.
He can get out run, he's only 14.1 and like I said, I have to push every step. He's 8, I started him on the pattern a year ago and we have won money this year in great company from the 1d-3d.
But we also have a LOT of tiny rodeo pens around here with 13 second patterns. I really think he will shine there.
But not the horse I would put in the trailer to go try and win on a standard pattern. I'm not sure I could kick that long, haha. |

Location: Willows, CA | Most cutting bred horses are just not built for straight line sustained speed. Whether you make up for that by quicker turns or short patterns really will depend on the horse. We have cutters. Since college rodeo does not have cutting, when one of our daughters was headed to college we sent a Colonel Freckles x Cal Bar gelding to Marilyn Camarillo to see if he would make a barrel horse. He was amazing, and she loved him. We later turned down a lot of money for that horse from a multiple NFR qualifier. He sure was as cutting bred as you could get. So, I guess it depends on the individual. There are some though, that are really not known for speed. As I mentioned above, we have had some very good cutters back when little peppy was the big deal, and none of them has what I would think of as barrel speed. |

| I have a heading horse that is a grandson of Doc O lena on top and Freckles Playboy on bottom. Stands 14.2, is very quick out of the box and can run and gather on up in a hurry. |

| When evaluating a horse as a potential barrel horse always
ask yourself ...
How many famous successful barrel//race bloodlines do
I see in their pedigree??
On another note:
I used to own the sire to the 2nd dam of this colt's sire ...
ANTHONY WEST........ AQHA CHAMPION
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/anthony+west
He was trained by Lyn Palm, trainer of Rugged Lark ..
He is one of the greatest sires for % of ROM's in
English eventing in AQHA history.
Produced 65% ROM from 104 foals...
I receive pre-approved credit card mail and mail from agents
trying to sell him life insurance all the time ... lol
I'm not sure if he got to vote for Hillary or not !!!... lol
My young daughter rode him with a halter or hay string any
where she wanted to go... super kind disposition.

| A friend of mine runs a Freckles Playboy/Peppy San x double bred doc bar. She is a 2D horse, 1D locally but 2D at the bigger events. And to be honest, if ridden more consistently, could probably be a 1D horse.
I grew up running a Doc Bar x Peppy San Badger mare who went on to win AQHYA World and Congress in Barrels and Pole Bending.
Another Docs Prescription x Poco Bueno, 1D horse and WPRA money earner.
Just because they are cowbred, doesn't mean they cant run. I personally believe the racing bloodlines, breeds the speed without the work ethic. Everyone has their opinion but I would take this horse in a heartbeat. |

| Going to pick up on Friday! :) He's dead broke and has an amazing handle on him. Hoping to use him as a project this summer and train him for barrels and get him seasoned while my mare is in foal.
Even if he isn't a 1D horse, I still think he will make an amazing youth horse, and there seems to be a reasonable market out there for them when and if it comes time to sell him! |

| Like others have said, even if he doesnt make a 1d horse he will most likely be a super fun, broke, 2-3D horse for someone if you decide to sell. Thats worth some $$ right there. |

| Totally depends on the individual. I've seen cowbred horses that can flat fly and running bred horses that aren't more than a pleasure horse, and vice versa. I've had two cowbred horses, bred similarly with peppy san badger on top and freckles playboy on the bottom, both could get up and move. The one I have now I have a hard time keeping up with him. You'll like your new guy I'm sure :)
