Joe Carl update: He's doing really well tonight! The results of his scope from this morning show that his airway is responding to the medications. Fingers crossed that he continues to improve at this rate, and his temperate continues to stay normal. He enjoyed a handful of carrots and peppermints, then got to go for a little stroll outside |

Wow!!I'm glad he's doing well!!!! I can't imagine the cost of all that treatment. I have seriously been thinking of her so often lately I almost made a post asking about her!!! I hope she is doing well!!! She grew up on BHW!!! |

Joe Carl update: Its been 10 days since he first went to the clinic, and he has been improving each day! They found two abcesses in his trachea that they believe to have cause the irritation to make his aretynoids swell, shutting his airway (I will post pictures in the comments!) . He has been on very aggressive antibiotics and throat flushes every 6 hours. After seeing how much he improved when they scoped him, they decided to take the tracheotomy tube out. It's been 24 hours since they removed the tube, and he is still doing great. His attitude is great, his appetite is good, and he has really responded to the treatments in the best way. If he continues to move forward the next few days, I am keeping my fingers crossed he will be able to go home next week! I am so thankful to everybody who has been treating him and overseeing his care at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital- I have been updated about his progress every step of the way, and it is very clearly that these are people who truly care about their patients! And I cannot express my gratitude enough to everybody who has donated to Joe Carl's vet bill. Without all of your help, I truly do not know what I would have done. I am truly humbled by everybody's generosity and can honestly say that Joe Carl is alive and well because of every one of you. I am so blessed, and so grateful! |
