Needing a new felt hat.  I do not want to pay to have a custom one made.  So what is everyone's favorites.  Brim and crown size?  Color?  Thanks in advance!!!

I have a small head (6.5) so it's been very difficult for me to find one. I finally bought a silver belly showman from rods I think it's a 10x...maybe 20x I forget. Greenley actually makes them, they are just under Rods name. It's super nice and actually fits. I just need to get it shaped. Black is typically my favorite color but I love how the silver belly looks on me.

I don't buy anything under a 20x. I would rather spend the money but have the hat last me a loooong time. I also recommend sending the hat out to get cleaned yearly. My biggest pet peeve is dirty or unshaped hats. I have a black and a brown, those colours are timeless and will never go out of style. I have been eyeing up a burgundy or maroon hat... yes I said it. I love the colour and I think can look very classy if suited with the correct shirt. I suggest no matter what brand or hat you go with, spend the money and get a good hat!

I would 100% recommend Star of the West out of Rapid City. They're custom hats but at an extremely reasonable price point. I have hats from them that are 5-10 years old and still look brand new!

Atwood -my husband wears a black felt year around. In the rain, snow & sun. He works cattle almost every day so he is in dirt, dust & mud. He get feed dust, blood, smoke, water you name it on them.  A lot of good name brand hats the color will bleed out when they get wet. He would come home with black stripes down the back of his shirt or coat. He has had a lot of hats over the years, top name brand ones, custom made and now of them would hold up over a year. But he started wearing Atwoods a few years ago & they will last 2 -1/2 years. They aren't worn completely out at that point but they do lose their orginal shape & won't hold it.

I have a Bailey that I've worn for close to 15yrs but it gets professionally cleaned and shaped once or twice a year. I have a nicer Charlie 1 Horse with black and white cow hide that I wear most of the time now but I don't like to get it wet so I still breakout the Bailey every now and then. I have a weird shaped head and kinda large for a woman. I was willing to spend a bunch of money on a good one but Charlie 1 Horse fits me better than everything I tried on.

I have several Atwoods -- felts and straw. They have been terrific. Hold up. Hold shape. Nice hats.
