Location: Texas | First time to "The American ". Going to go watch the semi finals at the stockyards, any travel tip you can give me.
Such as:
What hotels are the closest?
Is there parking close to the arena?
Places to eat?
Anything else to see while I'm there?
Can you see the horses up close, like walk thru the barn area?

| Parking at the America is like at any Stadium, I think it cost us $35.00 last year to park. They dont take cash for parking either. Do take your good walking boots and arrive early for decent parking. There are several motels close we stayed at a Super 8 and it was about a 15 minuet drive to the stadium. |

| Does anyone know what the "schedule" is? For barrel racing in particular? Wondering when slack is? Is the format same as it was in years past? |

Location: Driving, Grooming, or Saddling for a Kid! | Thats just to park at the stadium for the actual American. The semi-finals are held at the stockyards and parking is like $5 or $10. |

Location: Driving, Grooming, or Saddling for a Kid! | There is no "barn area" for the semi-finals. You haul in and park just like any other barrel race. Theres all kinds of good restraurants right there in the stockyards within walking distance. |

Location: Michigan | Eat at Cattlemans. It's a bit expensive but really, really, really good. It's just down around the corner from the Stockyards arena. Also visit the western store across the road. They have some nice stuff in there. |

| The barrel racing slack is Tuesday the 14th - From there the Top 30 will each go onto a performance Wed, Thur, Fri evening at the Stockyards. Top 10 times move onto the American on Sunday. . . that's my understanding anyway 
We rent a car and head out to NRS, Teskeys, Paul Taylors, there are a couple Cavenders around.
Dallas Aquarium is super neat.

| The hotels close to the semi finals won't be close to the actual American. If you stay in the stockyards be ready to spend $300-400 a night on a hotel. There's taxi's and ubers all over ft worth so we normally just stay at the closest motel 6 and call an Uber. |
