We have an older gelding (23) who has an old stifle injury. We've had it injected a handful of times this year and this winter it seems to still be bothering him. We are doing some magna wave type therapy sessions. Wondering if people have had success with stifle wraps? Other treatments?

which ones have you used? Have you seen a difference on a horse that has had an injury? I have the PHT leg wraps, blanket and hock wraps. Which I like. But never used them on a horse with injury.

I use the pht stifle wraps. Had a customer (I'm a massage therapist) who's mare got a stifle injury through getting tangled in a flipped up stall mat. Vet was very impressed with her recovery time after use. Said it usually takes twice as long.

Why don't you look at the horse's anatomy and realize all the parts that
shift when you get a tendon or muscle tear or strain from the hip to the
hocks.
Any change in any of these muscles holding everything in place is going
to affect the future angle and movement of that leg ...
There is no miracle fix on a genuine "stifle" (or rear knee joint) movement
regardless of what muscle/joint is the cause for the lag in movement.
Time is your best friend ....
I have had to grin when looking at magnet stifle wraps and the magnets
are not on the stifle joint or above it ...
If you want to help your horse ... rent you a portable ultrasound machine
or buy one for long term use instead of having constant vet bills ....
Much cheaper to buy a 12-1500$ machine ... that will do some good ..
on reducing swelling and increased bloodflow to any area you apply
it to ...

Thanks for the feedback. He is on stall rest right now. Having a chiropractor come out again on Sunday. He also does the magna wave treatments. I was looking at renting that as it covers a much larger area at one time than an ultrasound machine would. I've used ultrasound on other horses. It's definitely worth looking into. Thanks!
