I found a used trailer that has everything we want but no bars on the drop down windows. So I'd have to use screens?? I always said they are a PITA so I never bought a trailer that was set up that way. Is screens the only option? are they really that bad? would it be worth it to just deal with them?

I use the Professional Choice screens in my drop windows even though I also have bars. The screens have not been any trouble for me - although they were a little bit of a pain to install. I have had them over 2 years and no problems even when hauling my destructive Percheron who managed to actually bend the bars but didn't hurt the screen

Definitely screens. I use the Prof Choice ones from time to time...only issue I have with them is they don't seem to let as much air through as when they are not on. So I don't use them when it's extremely hot because I want to give the horses as much airflow as possible. I also have bars on my windows though.

For what ever reason 3 of drop downs came with bars. But my front stall didn't. I use a screen in it but I want bars so it matches but I can't find the bars. Sundowner said they didn't put them in. Anyway. Am I the only one that has just bars and puts on fly masks??? Some screens don't let as much air through.

I'd want to add bars and screens. Screens won't help if you get a horse that tries to go through the window. You can take it to a local trailer dealer and have bars or chains added in.

My trailer came with screens. When one finally fell apart from dry rot (over 20 years old) I bought the pro choice screens to replace, and had to sew them up to fit. I've always used screens and my horses haven't ever bothered them. They have always held their heads in just fine.
