Wanting to change my program up a little. I've tried to look things up on line but I'm sure not using the right words to bring up what I need. So could someone post some links or tell me what you know? How to start galloping and breezing like to start from scratch. How long and how many days and so forth. Thanks

I'm no pro but I'll post two links I refer to frequently.

This is from Martha Josey, step one and up

Is the horse semi fit currently?  How I would move forward would be based on the horse's current fitness level.  Are you legging up after winter and not made runs yet?  Been making runs this winter?  Etc.

I start with lots of trotting and continue to do it . We usually start out 1/2 - 1 mile trotting 1/2 mile gallop and build up to about 2 miles of loping and a 1-2 miles jogging total. I like to trot after galloping some to and then let them walk plenty and I change directions if I am in a small area. I don't have a nice big place to do this anymore. I normally condition 4-5 days a week until fit then they can do it a little less maybe 2-3 days but they are still getting rode doing other stuff. I breeze about once a week I can only do about 150 ft before I have to make a turn so I do it multiple times. When I had access to a track we would breeze 250-300 yrds . I am not as good at keeping them in ripped condition like when we were at the track but they are fit. I miss having a track or at least a big field.

He is getting fit I was wanting to add the galloping and breezing. I used to just wing it before but was just trying to learn how the track does it. Weather has been hit and miss but have a track that I can go to at a friends house that I want to be able to go to at least 2-3x week. I just didn't want to over do at the beginning. And he will be running barrels hopfully this week I try to go somewhere at least once a week just hard getting started! Thanks!
