Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I think anymore it is usually so far back the individual horse would have very little influence. What else is crossed on it? Personally I love to see Hempen on papers, even if it is back there. FDD was a good cross on his daughters, but I think FDD crosses on anything well. |

Location: Silver Lake, MN | I had one many years ago...he was awesome super good minded. He was giant...17H didn't make a barrel horse but I loved riding him. He started his career as a dressage horse and I bought him later in his life. He was tall, dark and handsome. I had people stop me on the road and ask if he was for sale since I had him out at the race track with me. |

Location: Arizona | My grandpa still has a son of Hempen, a stallion named Hez Sweet. He is 35 years young this year. He's been retired from breeding for several years, but still looks and gets around very well for his age. Extremely laid back and easy to get along with, a bit on the lazy side, and very kind. He has honestly spoiled me with my expectations of stallion behavior. You can handle him with a regular halter, lead & ride him around mares with no issues. I've worked with quite a few of his get & several maternal grandget. Babies seemed to be either just like Hez Sweet personality-wise, or very hot; no real middle ground. All were very quick learners and very athletic. Depending on how they were crossed, the hot ones could be super reactive. But if you have their trust they will try their heart out for you. Hez Sweet is only about 15.2 himself, but commonly threw a lot of size in his foals. A good many matured over 16 hands. Out of all the Hez Sweet babies I worked with, I only encountered one lemon. He didn't necessarily do anything bad, but he just did not retain anything. Everyday when you went out to catch him it was like he'd never seen a person before & you would have to essentially spend the first hour working him like an untouched colt. His registered name is Heza Trademark; he is out of an Easy Host mare. My grandpa had several Easy Host daughters, and many of those crosses produced foals with hotter temperments. All the other Hez Sweet babies I worked with retained lessons very well though, and had no problems picking back up where we left off, even with layoffs. Didn't need to worry about them acting silly or fresh. Even the hot ones still remembered their training. Trademark was a notable exception though, and probably why he was so frustrating to me; he was so unlike all the other Sweet babies. Can't get a winner every time I guess! Those are my good and bad experiences, with one particular Hempen line at least. |

| My parents had a syndicate share to Hempen. I grew up with many own get. I've had own get, grand get, great grand get and great great grand get. I've loved all of them...except one. He was gorgeous but you needed to be mean to him in order for him to have any respect. He was the only one like that though. |

Location: OK | I did in the late 80's & 90's - smartest, easiest to train horse I ever through a leg over. He was a cross of Hempen/Easy Jet. Extremely versatile. Would not hesitate with Hempen on the papers

| We have a daughter who is 27 this year. EVERY baby she has had is smart, super athletic, race winners, great minds, loves to be around people. 2 of her daughter are now broodmares. GOD truly blessed us when we bought her !!!!! |

Location: OH | We bred to a stallion for years named Flat Busted Broke---he was by Easy Hempen and out of a Leo daughter and we still have four of his daughters in a broodmare band. Obviously we think a lot of them and they have been crossing extremely well with our Sun Frost-Driftwood studs. |

| If my memory served me right, Terra Bynum ran a Hempen bred horse. He was beautiful and amazing to watch run. He had a really cool style. I don't know how he was personally, but I loved to watch her run him. |

Location: Utah | My 23 year old paint that I pro rodeoed on is hempen bred. I would take another one in a heart beat. Barbra Merrill's NFR Horse was hempen bred. |
