Jim's favorite thing is alfalfa hay and cookies, least favorite is grass hay.
Loves attention, hates not getting attention.
Loves our open stock trailer, refuses to load in my friend's fancy horse trailer (he used to go in the horse trailers, but not after getting to ride in the open trailer so he can see everyone)
Loves fleece cinches and saddle pads, hates the pressed wool pads neoprene cinches. |

| I have one that loves human food. Doughnuts, French fries, ice cream( he has stolen my sons whole vanilla cone) even cheeseburgers. You really have to watch him, since he can't be tied he will get loose and find food. He wrecked a surprise birthday cake that was left on the bed of a pickup at a roping. My husband thought we had a coon problem one year. Waited up to find this horse getting out and going thru our trash cans. |

My nice head horses favorite thing is starlight mints after we work.... least favorite thing... tumbleweeds... he will run for his dear life from them when they blow thru the pasture, and then be upset for days. |

Anne's favorite thing to do is let you get the halter tipped onto her nose before she bolts to run and buck and play. Her least favorite thing to do is lope. She's either running or walking. There is no in-between. She's mostly afraid of missing a meal. |

He hates my husband, small ponies, and oral meds, LOL. He will seriously pout and refuse to eat, even cookies after oral meds.
My mare that passed away was super quirky... She hated almost everything, LOL. Hated my husband--wouldn't let him catch her. My son's little battery powered gator--she pinned her ears and dove at it everytime he'd come tearing through the barn...however she adored my son, and if he drove it out in the pasture she never seemed bothered by it. She at first hated her chiropractor, but after a few visits, she LOVED her! Would see her blocks and drag me over and stand by them. She was special... |

He also really likes crazy clown acts at rodeos. There was a blow up dinosaur at one in 2015 and he was completely obsessed. Clifford loves eating CheezIts and picking up feed pans or buckets. He rearranges the feed pans regularly and will shake one at me as if he's asking for a refill. He's scared to death of draft horses. Streak ??s all foods. He also loves people. He's the first one to come up for petting. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Tucker's least favorite thing is any kind of drill after the number 2 making him the worlds worst barrel clinic horse EVER. Or that may be a toss up with doing anything in a round pen, I'm convinced his brain switches to off at those moments because there is absolutely nothing he could possibly learn while in a round pen...just ask him. His favorite thing other than eating is working cows. He has my fiance trained to feed him when he goes home at noon for lunch making it hard if not impossible to keep the aged gelding look off his frame, either that or my 16 year old gelding is 24 months pregnant. He is lazy and a Diva which would normally make me want to puke and give him away, but he is also my Knight in Shining Armor. Every dream I had as a kid about horses that has come true has been on his big wide back.
Poopie Girls least favorite thing is being left at home or left out when I ride at home, she gets every part of the bridle in her mouth on the way to the bit in her excitement to go. She also hates butterflies so during certain times of the spring riding can be a bit of a rodeo. Not true, she doesn't buck, she just bats her head and lunges...YEEHAW!!! Her favorite thing is turning a barrel or getting scratched right between her front legs down on the belly. She drools when you find the spot. As far as turning a barrel, we have one arena we go to ride at that is 300x250 and if you try to walk/trot/lope/breeze the perimeter of it with a barrel set up anywhere in said arena, if you let the reins loose she will keep making her circle smaller and smaller until she is doing a regular sized turn around the barrel.
CC's least favorite thing, can change from moment to moment, dogs, leaves falling, people spitting, ropes hanging on a fence post...ADHD and Bi-Polar much??? After the mountain lion attack also hates any animal that is tan or yellow moving thru tall brush...Also if she has to be ponied, she hates any horse that cannot keep up with her long trot. Read every horse I've ever tried to pony her off of... Her favorite thing is making me a neurotic mess with her habit of getting herself into life threatening situations or illnesses or injuries. Her next favorite is, so far, beating the odds and healing my heart. |

I had one like this! Tandoori chicken, carne asada burrito, none of it was safe from him. He even got his own plate at the 4th of july BBQ. Beans, cole slaw, a burger...and drank his Coors Light out of a can like the guys. It's a wonder he didn't colic.
Anyways, my mare's favorite things are to lay stretched out in the sun like she's dead, sunflower seeds, and corn bread. Her least favorite things are the cold/wet, to have horses next to her, being left at the trailer during a rodeo or parade, and the steer sled or any kind of large plastic animal.
My colt's favorite things are to have his neck scratched where it joins his chest, beer, and to stand in the middle of the arena doing nothing. His least favorite things are stepping in water, being blanketed or unblanketed, and using his body while being worked. LOL |

| My gelding's favorite thing in the world is his Grain! He is a complete pig and basically swallows his Grain whole! His least favorite thing is Mud! If it's muddy there's no way he will leave his barn, he hates being dirty and will only roll if he's in perfectly clean shavings. I've learned to not even try and run him if an arena is muddy, he hates it!!
I also have a kitty that will jump on the horses' backs from the fence and ride around on them. There's one horse that will tolerate it all day, I've seen the kitty on his back giving him a back massage with his claws and my gelding seems to like it! Lol |

I know EXACTLY what you mean---during my divorce my two boys were my rocks. I could go to them and talk and vent and cry---and they never judged me or let me down. I had to choose where I did those things because Chandler was just 8 and already confused and upset. Plus my momma and daddy had practically raised Chris, so they were hurting too and I didn't want to add to their pain. Dan and Faci just KNEW I needed them and offered their strong backs and sleek necks for me to rest all my troubles on. God blessed me when He gave me my love for horses. And when He gave me the ones I have.
Sorry, off topic. . . . |

| I have unintentionally taught my gelding to rub his butt on anyone who walks close enough that he can keep the end of his lead rope and touch them. He LOVES him some butt scratches right on those big fat checks and under his tail. Most ppl assume he is going to kick or being mean but nope he is just wanting a butt scratch and IF you do not appease him he will bump you with his booty like "hey human I got some dead skin back there under the tail that is itchy please remove!"
His second favorite thing is the sound of paper/plastic wrappers! Much like my dog he hears plastic rattling he assumes its treat time! His eyes bug out and he'll nicker in anticipation. Quite the diva when he doesn't receive some of whatever your eating he'll paw and pout, then get scolded lol Do not get too close if your eating any type off bread he will steal your food and not be sorry. I think it's because I've got him on a "carb care" horse feed, maybe he craves bread! He is sneaky about it too! He knows the difference between food and fingers and acts like you've beat him with a manure fork if he even gets pressure on one of your fingers LOL The best thing he has stolen so far was a strawberry jelly biscuit from my farrier who was about to take a bite of it when my gelding literally chomped off the whole biscuit accept the part the farrier was holding with his fingers. Then he smacked his lips together while chewing and gave an extremely satisfied look towards us with strawberry jelly all over his lips. Absolutely priceless!
He loves children because he knows those tiny humans have food and love to give pets. He is all about some food and scratches so he will follow small children around all day just looking for hand outs lol
His least favorite thing is sheath cleaning even sedated he will pout for days later by not coming when called. I swear I can see the thought bubble over his head "nope not grabbing my junk again today lady."
Also he really doesn't like the neighbors donkey. I feel like him and my mare literally plot to kill the thing sometimes.

Location: NE TX | My mares favorite things: Being in the pasture without friends, being in the pasture with friends, eating and drinking to her hearts content in the pasture, going into the woods in her pasture when it's hot so she's in the shade and it's cooler, being fed, getting stretched.
Her least favorite things: Being caught to work, working, seeing the truck and trailer hook up to go somewhere, lunging when I'm too tired to ride but she still needs to be worked.
A little more serious: She loves to be sctatched under her chin and on her face, but if you approach her head too fast she will shy away so I guess those are her favorite and least favorites. |

LOL mine is quite the turd!
I didn't wanna say it for fear of getting flamed but he literally has some of whatever i'm eating or drinking HAHA
He actually demands it! I'm pretty sure he thinks "How dare you have food in my presence and not share?! Don't your know who I am!?"
Things he likes to eat/drink: any type of soda, beer, cookies, cakes, hot dogs, hamburgers, biscuits, chips, nachos, cheese, watermelon, bananas, popsicles, and he loves him some ice cream
Things he does not like: coffee, celery, corn on the cob, nor limes
Funny thing is I'm a bad mom and offer him limes and lemons. He takes them every time and makes the most adorable faces HAHAHAHA

This made Sean and I laugh cause we have two just like him! Our gelding will take you down (figuratively ) for some hamburger or biscuit or cookie or. . . ) Our mare is a (insert garden utensil here ) for belly rubs----as I've stated about her before, she would work the red light district if she was human!
Oh bad momma on the lemons and limes---I can say that because I used to do the same thing with lemons and pickles to Chandler when he was young cause we LOVED seeing the little faces he made
Laura's gelding grabbed a chicken leg--A CHICKEN LEG--off the wall at a barrel run one day as she was about to go down the alleyway. . . She said she got it away before he could eat it all but he did get some down. They watched him like a hawk the rest of day and several days after, but he was fine. (Tried to grab a Powerade drink right after that I think she said. . . These 4 legged kids sure have personalities and apparently some have iron guts too!) |

Mare - Favorite thing - Food, butt scratches, playing in water / getting dirty, and the older gelding; Least Favorite - Getting fed last and my younger gelding (she picks on him)
Younger Gelding (10 Year Old) - Any kind of attention (he is actually a 1,000 dog), butt scratches and fresh water; Least Favorite - the clippers and getting the strangles vaccine (he WAS NOT having it). |

| I'll just do a couple!
Original (15 year old ranch gelding)- LOVES kids, will do anything for them. Put his head down so they can put a halter on etc. Really takes care of our 5 year old daughter, likes his treats and feed time. Gets jealous when he isn't loaded into the trailer. Can't tie him hard either.
When I put the halter on him he puts his head up so high I can hardly tie it. When I pull on the halter to put his head down he will run backwards and put his head up higher. When my daughter pulls on it his nose goes to the ground and he patiently waits til she gets it untied. If my husband or I ride him he will buck with us, but he is ever so careful when Loralei is riding him.
Cassie(10 year old mare) favorites: treats or food, rolling in the mud and playing in the water, loves working cows, loves attention, as long as there isn't a halter in your hands
Hates being caught, hates being saddled, hates being ridden unless theres cows to work. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | One of my mates favorite thing is any drink that's in a can. It can be beer coke or even water. She LOVES it. He least favorite thing is other horses seems to particularly pick on palominos. And she swears a mini pony tried to eat her one time..... even though it was tied to its trailer and never even looked at her.
My other mare... well.... she is special one. She likes to turn her light on and off(all my stalls have individual lights with pull cords). She just absolutely loves to let her self out of her stall and will go down the row letting everyone else out. She despises a blanket but let me leave one around her and it's a toy. She likes to push her fan with her nose then act surprised when it hits her. She loves playing in the big water trough until it's about empty and then turning it over. She likes to take her Bell boots off and chew on them. Oh and she just loves to untie her self at a show. No knot is Cody proof. The thing she hates most is anything in a spray bottle and dogs. The smaller the dog the more likely it is to eat her.
My gelding loves any food and attention. Hates anything thang requires physical activity. |

Location: Southern Alabama | The grulla mare is Indie, affectionately called Chewy. Her favorite things are me, touhcing me, licking me, licking anything she can get her hands on, putting her feet in any water trough, bucket and digging in it, destroying halters, playing in mud, her grain, being an absolute pain in the ass, chewing on everything, taking bell boots off, and... did I mention just being a pain in the ass? Her Least favorite thing? A water hose.
?The grouchy paint mare in the back? She like grain. She likes food. She hates being saddled, being groomed, being messed with, being ridden. She believes she is royalty.

Location: Illinois | I have one who I'd never know his likes/dislikes as he's always standing around like a stone. He acts like he has no soul, there's never any expression. He sleeps a lot, I assume he likes to sleep. If he's stalled he's usually always laying down napping. I can't tell you how many calls I've gotten saying my horse has been down for a long time. I try to tell people he's like a cat and will lay there for hours just fine. My older horse is like the grouchy old grandpa. He reminds me of Jeff Dunham's puppet Walter. Always got his ears slightly back and looks grumpy. He'll do anything for potatoes though. Give that horse some tater tots and he's got bright eyes, happy ears, and just looks cute. Any kind of potatoes and he is all about it. He also loves hot sauce, which I used once to try to stop his cribbing. He licks it up like candy. |
