I believe the bursa gets inflamed mostly due to sore hocks as it compensates for it.you will find pain in the back end and hocks.we treated and injected hocks as the vet said ALOT of the time the inflammation in the bursa will resolve itself if it is hock related.we did end up injecting the bursa as well.short strides are a symptom as well.

My mare will quit rating for the 2nd and 3rd barrels. She's 17 so we pretty much have it down to a science. Get her whorl bones injected & she's good to go. She's very aggressive about her job so when she quits rating, something is wrong.
