What she said!! If you will do this no doubt improvement in 2 weeks BIG improvements.

I'll add cool calories to it bc its cheap found almost at any store and never hurts to add in there.

How many pounds does your scoop hold?... an actual weight of grain and hay that is fed is needed to give good advice.

Like Cocasoy, Healthy  Coat, etc.  you can get it at your feedstore.
Omolene is very high in sugar and not what I would consider healthy (tasty yes)...  horse are not designed to digest sugar...

Calories should come from protein and fats.

I'm feeding 2 scoops of omolene 200 twice a day and hay

Simple change up ...

If scoops are 3 qt that equals to 3 lbs per scoop ..

Morning and Evening
1 scoop of 200
1 scoop of whole oats
(makes horse chew and saliva is the start of digestion )

Once per day ...
Half cup of whole flax seed
One block of alfalfa with his normal hay

WORMING ...
Do a tube of Quest
2 months later a tube of ivermectin

Try to find you some Moorman GROSTRONG loose minerals ...
25lb bag is ~25$ ... throw a handful in his feed every other day

You will love what happens to your horse with these simple changes

We feed a Purina product as well now and I can tell you from weighing mine - that's a lot of feed if you're talking about a pretty standard sized plastic feed scoop.

On your other post you mentioned eating hay first, I would really recommend a course of ulcer treatment. If she's eating hay first and needs to put weight on - I'm not a gambler but I'd be willing to bet on something being up in her digestive system. I've heard/seen great results from Forco as well although I haven't used it personally.

There's a 100+ different ways that people will choose to add weight, I'm a big fan of quality free choice forage and a fat supplement in addition to your grain of choice. But if the digestive system is in distress it likely won't matter what is fed if it can't be properly digested.

I'd be tempted to go free choice forage and a small amount of high fat concentrated feed with some plain oats to encourage salivation until a round of ulcer treatment is complete. The extra saliva will help neutralize the stomach acid that is upsetting the ulcers.

I've had great luck with alfalfa hay, grass hay, and 0.5 lbs to 1 lb of Renew Gold (rice bran based product).  Two years ago my horse came to me "cold winter skinny".  Not underweight per say but a little poor, and needed to gain 100-200 lbs.  This put weight on him nice and easy.   I would be hesitant feeding that much Omolene 200--lots and lots of sugar!!

Formula 1 Noni. I used to feed alfalfa cubes, oats and top oil plus he was on a grass pasture 24/7. I was having trouble keeping weight on him on the pasture, which shouldn't have been. Had his teeth checked, de wormed etc.

When I started feeding Formula 1, I eliminated the alfalfa cubes and oil, then dropped the oats down to 1 lb a day. Then eliminated the oats all together for like a month, then I added one lb of Blue Bonnet intensify a day, 4 ounces of Noni per day and he is still on Grass pasture and he looks and feels amazing and haven't had any issues with his weight since then. I love my Formula 1!

For my hard keeper I use THE Muscle Mass he is 27 and has kept good weight all winter. Of course where I live the winter was not too harsh. Plus he gets Bluebonnet and Omnis cubes. But THE Muscle Mass has made a world of difference with him.

The only thing that worked for me was, 10 pounds of good hay morning and night with 4 pounds of Tribute Kalm Ultra. I also used DAC bloom and oil on top. He looks beautiful now and ive been able to take him off the DAC and hes down to 3 pounds of Tribute Kalm n EZ. Ive never not seen a difference when using the DAC and my horses LOVE IT !!

Replace your hay with alfalfa, and reduce your grain load or even cut it out completely.  The highest quality forage you can put in front of your horse, the better they will do.  High grain loads can actually be counter productive and create issues in the hind gut.

Rice Bran and lots of quality hay; alfalfa, timothy and peanut, along with coastal.  Basically, keep hay available at all times.

I feed Triple Crown Complete and alfalfa pellets - since I really cannot get my hands on any alfalfa hay around here. I feed perennial peanut hay, when I can get my hands on it, as well. When I can, they get that, morning and night, along with their grain. And, they have good grass hay in front of them at all times since my pastures are lacking. I soak my alfalfa pellets in warm water, always. I want the extra water in their guts, as much as possible. Then, I just add the feed, right on top.

I couldn't get my 23 year old to put weight on with anything except Nutrena Empower Boost. It's a rice bran supplement and I chose it because of his cushings. I had him on 2lbs a day until I felt he had gained sufficient enough, his topline is better than my barrel horse right now. After being on that for a few months I decided to switch my grain to their ProForce Fuel line, which has the Boost in it. All is well and he went from eating a full 3qt scoop of the old feed which was 2lbs, plus the 2lbs of Boost a day. Now he eats a hair under 2lbs twice a day of the Fuel and maintains his weight nicely. I've used FatCat and Manna's Senior Weight Accelerator in the past and had good results as well on the same horse when he was younger. However the last couple years those haven't worked for him.
