Location: OH. IO | I'm fighting a battle doctors can't get a grip on.My blood pressure is a normal 107/68.but since November..For an unknown reason it spiking high.like all of a sudden goes to 177/107 etc.sometimes it doesn't spike that high but still spikes.when it happens it's not pretty.immediatly after it happens I have to go urinate RIGhT NOW.im not sure if the two are connected.Ive hit the floor once a few weeks ago.ive been taken by squad twice to er.Quite frankly the doctors just keep upping my anxiety meds.although they have done some simple blood tests and urine tests.once the urine showed very high protein level. If you have had this happen to can you tell me what they did???I'm at a loss and it has debilitated me to no end.i lost 13pounds in three weeks when it first started.the episodes aren't ten times a day now they are more like three times a week but they literally drain me.

| Some anxiety meds can cause spikes in blood pressure by themselves or when you eat/drink certain foods. Have you noticed them happening more often since the Drs have upped your anxiety meds? Might be helpful to keep a food diary and see if anything triggers it? A second opinion might not hurt. I don't like that the Drs think upping the meds will take care of it...
Hope things get better for you! I will keep you in my prayers. |

| I know you already know this, but just a reminder, make sure all your doctors are working together with your diagnosis and know what meds you are taking. What a scary situation you are in. Prayers they find the cause. |

| Dehydration does not cause a spike in blood pressure.... how can ur pressure go up if ur dehydrated and ur circulating volume is low? When ur dehydrated ur blood pressure will be lower with a higher pulse cause ur body is compensating. |

About 73.6 million people in the United States age 20 and older have high blood pressure, according to the American Heart Association. The solution can be as simple as drinking more water since dehydration can lead to high blood pressure.
And, because I have dealt with this and my doctor, whom I trust, told me I needed to stay more hydrated. I sweat like a man during the summer and it not only caused my blood pressure to rise, but caused me to get kidney stones. |

Agreed.. Dehydration can most definitely cause an increase in BP. |

| Yes chronic dehydration, but acute onset will not cause a rise in blood pressure. In a clinical setting Dehydration is not generally associated with HTN. |

Go to a butt doctor and get your digestion and good gut
bacteria back again ... Doctors have a habit of killing off
your good gut bacteria and not coming back and killing
off the bad gut bacteria which will kill you due to rotting
of your colon or by pneumonia ....
Talk to a good butt doctor on stopping all of your meds
and concentrating on getting rid of your diarrhea .... ask
him about the colon bug that is prevalent in a lot of old folks
nursing homes ... call several nursing homes and ask what
the name of it is ... it is dangerous enough for patient to be
quarantined ...
My Mother and several friends have died by doctors
neglecting the above.
Tell your new doctor ... maybe an internal medicine doc ...
that your wet farts are killing you!!

| It's called c diff. You have to come in contact with spores to become infected. It's not as prevelant in the healthy adult. Must people catch contract it in long term care facilities because of poor hand hygiene. If you had contracted if you would be very aware. The diarrhea is non stop and it's the most horrid smell that comes from a human ever. But if is truly a concern a simple fecal will determine it. |

 BHW Resident Surgeon

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Sounds like you are on the right track to getting this all sorted out, Jake. The Cleveland Clinic is a class act. While this thread may be reassuring and comforting, odds are you won't find the solution here.
This has been going on for nearly 4 months now. What you really need is a good old fashioned clinician who will sit down and methodically start from scratch, beginning with a thorough history and physical exam. He will go over your symptoms, starting from when this all started. Then he can review your past medical history, family history, and the medications you've been taking since before this all started. Finally, he will do a complete physical exam, head to toe. From there he will order several tests, most likely, and narrow things down. I don't think a bunch of random possibilities thrown out on BHW will give you the answer. Hopefully they will keep looking until it gets figured out. |
