My horse's stifle is wet with sweat and is painful to the touch. Some swelling. He is not very lame but it sure enough isn't 100%. Had x Ray no visible bone injuries. Just searching to see if anybody has had this and what was the diagnosis and treatment.

Thank you I know that's best to ultrasound. I've been to vet and He had trouble ultrasounding it, couldn't see much, so I was curious to see if anyone else experienced this problem and what they did.

I had a mare do nerve damage and developed a 'sweat spot' right on her left hip area. About 7 inches long and 3 inches wide. I went to a few different vets, and finally had it diagnosed. I seriously doubt that this is the same thing, but maybe a possibility?
I would spend the money to go to a good lameness vet and get x rays/ultrasounds/radio-graph's done. In my experience, being 'cheap' with my vet care always led to me spending more money in the long run.

When my mare fracture her patella (she ran into the blade of a tractor) about 5 months into the healing process the scar on the stifle would sweat after we got done handwalking. Vet said he believed it was the nerve endings starting to fire again.
