Let's talk about minerals.... what do you feed? Free choice, in their grain, what? I keep a trace mineral block in the pasture, not for the source of minerals, but... I have noticed they like it. They don't lick it much, but, my grulla mare is one of those ones that NEEDS something to do or, she starts getting herself in trouble.
?So, my question is - what do you feed? How much? What's your opinion of others?
And, anyone feed Equine Omega Complete?

I feed Adeptus Augment. It's vitamins and minerals. Mine get 2 scoops once a day.

Where do you get this from? I wonder if my local feed store could get it for me.

Formula 707 daily essentials is an excellent option. It's very very affordable and one little scoop once a day gives the horse everything it needs. Runs about 22.00 for a 60 day supply.

I feed ADM GroStrong loose minerals to my broodmares. The minerals are kept out all the time. I think they eat them for dessert.

The horse that I ride all get a scoop of Platinum Performance once a day.

I have never kept a mineral block out.

My local feed store is really good about working with me and getting me whatever it is I ask for. I mean, they started carrying Triple Crown... just for me
?I'll look into the 707... gotta see where I can get it at or, if they can order it.

Do you give the performance horses the Platinum Performance along with the loose minerals?

I order it through Valley Vet. They have been the best priced. I also buy the 20lb. and it lasts 120 days

Whole Foods and trace mineral salt in their feed, for stalled horses. Pasture horses get white salt and purina 12:12 mineral. I've noticed good nutrition cuts back on mineral usage. On our whole food diet, when offered any kind of mineral, the horses don't hardly touch it. I now do not believe in blanket mineral supplementation. A good nutrition program is more bioavailable. With everything you give your horse, it's about digestibility and bioavailability. Bar none a non processed natural diet has proven both of those superior, in my feed program.

I do leave loose minerals out for the performance horses but they don't eat much. Those broodmares inhale it.

We use Dynamite. We buy a 25# bucket. I think it costs about $125, and lasts about 6 months for one horse. The Ca/P ratio is 2:1.

I keep a couple of mineral blocks out in the pasture for my mares. They visit them pretty regularly.

I only have 1 horse on platinum. My colt from washington. He needed to put some weight back on and is a little behind size wise for a coming 3 year old. I felt platinum was an all inclusive option for him. All the horses I actually run are on the 707. I will see where my colt is next year size wise and decide then if I want to continue platinum or go 707 route. 707 sure is nicer on the pocket book!

My horses LOVE the EquiLix mineral tubs. And my favorite part is that there's no molasses in them.

They have a list of dealers on their website. Luckily there are a few near me!

I use Grostrong mineral. They get it in their grain and I keep a Grostrong block out for them as well just in case they are needing something extra (the block lasts me a LONG time with 3 horses since they are getting it all in their grain....its more an insurance policy for me).

We have Purina 12:12 out in loose form and my 2 barrel horses get Platinum Performance. All of our runs have a white salt block in them.

I leave trace minerals blocks out 24/7. I think the salt encourages them to drink plenty of fresh water. But I don't think they get enough from a salt lick to meet their mineral requirements. So I also feed ShoGlo minerals. It comes in a pelleted form. 1-2Oz daily.
