I'm looking for a feed thru ulcer prevent. I am going to paste the days I haul as a preventative too, but during the week would like to feed a pellet..I know smartpak is sort of pricey, so was curious if anyone is using the Smart Ultra or anything else that you know works. Thanks!

I ordered it for a horse I just am finishing ulcer guard treatments on. It was suggested by a vet to go with Smartgut Ultra as it has clinical research to back the product up. I haven't fed it yet. It doesn't heal ulcers only helps to prevent. I know this don't help now but maybe someone has has info on the clinical research for other products too.

I feed just the Smartgut and have had really good results with it. My mare has never had major ulcer issues so I use this as a preventative. I've had my horse scoped each summer and she's had very little irritation in her stomach. I do other things to minimize stomach issues but feel this product is really good!

I feed Animed's Ulc-r-Aid. Excellent results.

I feed that to my ulcer prone horse. She's been on it for probably 3 years now. I treated her with an omeprazole treatment for 30 days but within two months she started acting ulcery again. So I treated her again for another 30 days and then started her on the SmartGut ultra pellets. She hasn't had a flare up since. I also changed her feed though. She used to eat strategy healthy edge but I learned that molasses can irritate ulcers so now she gets beet pulp and alfalfa pellets.

I can't offer scientific proof that the SmartGut Ultra is what fixed things but it worked well enough that I won't risk taking her off of it.

I use it and like it - and it also covers you for their colic care program - so if you feed it all year it gives you a $7500 insurance coverage if you needed it.
I also like the buckeye EQ8 feed - it has live probiotics in it and seems to help too.

I have used it a long time on a horse that was treated for ulcers.  Never had a problem after that. This winter I changed over to Smart Digest, little less expensive and he is sitting at home. When the season starts again I will put him back on it.  I get it in the Smart Paks for the insurance coverage.
