I don't use a baby sitter to often but I am in need of one this coming weekend because my husband it president of our county cattleman's association and we have our annual banquet this weekend! Anyway my question is when you hire a new baby sitter do you ask them how much they get an hour or do you just pay them. My boys are 2.5 and 5.5 so they go to bed around 7:30. All she will really need to do is make them dinner and put them to bed on time! We wont be home until really late so she will have a lot of hours to herself! She is 17! What do you guys think, do I ask her what her hourly rate is or I don't even really know what to pay her I guess!

do you have to pay double time while her boyfriend is there?
Lol, my friend took her 5 year old to the grocery store, checking out the little girl looked at the sacker and said I want a Milky Way next time- babysitters boyfriend and brought her a candy bar as a bribe to not tell.

My baby sitter charges minimum wage ($7.50) for over 5 hours and $10/hour to watch them for anything under 5 hours. She is 22 and works at a daycare during the day and babysits on weekends. We have to book her weeks in advance. We love her. My house is always clean when I get home and she usually starts a load of laundry or two for me as well.
