Location: Georgia | My mare has, what appears to be, fluid-filled pockets on this outside and inside of her hock. She has always had little bubbles on the outside of each hock, which I guess I never thought much about. This past Thursday I went to exercise her and noticed the small pocket on her right hock had grown to about the size of a tennis ball. It also appears the swelling has moved to the inside a little. So obviously I'm now concerned. The knot is very tight feeling. It's not hot and doesnt seem painful when palpated. However, I watched her trot and there may be a very slight limp associated with the swelling. I know this warrants a vet trip but this week is so crazy that I'm not sure if I will get around to getting her there until the following week. I guess im just wondering what this might be and if there is a chance is could be something that needs immediate attention. I have been cold hosing it daily and I even poulticed it once just to try something. Didnt seem to bring down the swelling at all.
I found this picture on google. Her leg looks very similar. They have it listed as thoroughpin.
