| I've been seeing a lot of these hidez masks lately on barrel horses. Do you guys know what they are about? Has anyone used them and what are your thoughts?

They're supposed to help relax them. There were quite a few horses stalled with them on at the last big race I went to. |

Location: Kansas | I had seen so many people using them, so I thought why not give it a try for my extremely anxious mare. I've tried it several times just riding around the house, and I haven't noticed any change in her behavior. The biggest waste of $107 I've ever made.  |

I agree, a waste of money.....the first time I put it on my nervous gelding, it seemed to calm him, but after that it was useless, it's like he got used to it. |

I agree. For $107, I'd expect it to be sturdier.....mine got a hole in it the first day while my horse was tied to the trailer. When I contacted them about it, they said it wasn't warrantied unless it was in a seam. Very disappointed. Very. I could've dropped the money in a slot machine and been more satisfied. |

I agree. I thought it sounded too good to be true, and didn't really see how they could work (body suits, included). But then I just kept seeing so many people using them so I thought I'd give it a try. Kicking myself in the butt for being so stupid for falling for this fad... |

Location: Texas | I bought one, tried it, mare had the worse alley issues of her life, so didnt do what i was hoping it would. I let my friend try it on her cribber and she said it helped with that so I sold it to her. I went ahead and had my mare scoped and she had gastric ulcers... so now I'm treating with gastrogard and hoping that resolves her anxiety. |

| It has worked really well for my filly, she has a high flight response and it seems to help her brain focus on work and not everything going on around her. That being said there is nothing that is going to "fix" a training issue or a fed too much hot feed issue. It's an aid just like a tie down or spurs, nether will replace training. |

| Bought one for a cribber. Rep told me we wouldnt need a collar anymore. Didnt make a difference at all even with the collar still on. The mare was no better. My gut said no way thats gonna work and it didnt lol. Anyway sold it online the next day at a loss and lesson learned. |

| I do believe in compression and how I can ease anxiety and encourage relaxation. However, anytime I have beer seen that work, it has been a full body type thing. Weighted blanketed. Even my dog curls up in the corners of the living room when he is scared. I don't understand how a mask would help? I think it comes down to mind over matter. People use them, think they help, they relax and therefore their horses does. But hey... if it works for you then that's great! I have certainly don't probably pointless things because it eases my mind. |

I think this makes the most sense. I just don't understand how it's suppose to do what the company claims. Seems to be yet another gimmick to take people's money. |

Location: Northwest | I had two mares leave today and the gelding that was next to them ran around bucking and screaming when they left. He wouldn't calm down so I put his Hidez mask on (He is a laid back dude and I have it for his poll issues) he instantly started licking his lips and quit running. He is now standing with a leg cocked and his head is dropped. That being said, I've used it on my young filly while hauling and she was still pawing like a lunatic in the trailer, didn't help her one bit.

Mainly wanted it for my mare who has TMJ issues and tilts her head...Tried it in the round pen first and thought it helped, but with continued use it does not. Tried it on a trail ride last night, still pranced home. Not sold on it.... |

this is pretty much how i feel about the one i bought. didnt really notice a big difference on my mare with or without it- defiantely NO CHANGE TO MY GELDING |
