| I have a horse that stocks up bad in his hinds after being in a stall overnight, he gets his hocks injected twice a year, but other than that he has no issues. I always bring this up when I'm at my vet and she blows it off and tells me it's no big deal. I realized I really don't know much about stocking up!!
So, what causes it and is it a bad thing, or a sign that something else is wrong?, Should I try to prevent it, and how? When he is stocked up should I be working to bring it back down, it goes away with exercise or BOT boots.

I've had I think 3 different horses do this, and I've run a bag of Silver Lining Herbs Kidney through them. Worked every time. The last horse, I just started running him, and the first time he was stalled, stocked up badly. Didn't get back to normal for a couple days. Fed him a bag of Kidney, now his legs stay tight, no swelling at all when stalled. I can also get you a code for a 10% discount if you want to try it, PM me!
Which size of bag do you feed thru? A 1/4 lb worth? |

I second this. SLH Kidney works every time and they usually start using themselves better as well.
I just feed one bag worth, usually only need to do it once but if your horse is exposed to a lot of toxins then you might need to do it more often. I removed all processed feed from my program and my horses all have a new lease on life!

Location: Phoenix | Ditto SLH kidney. I dose a bag and be done with it. Helped my gelding big time. He used to stock up in a stall EVERYTIME but hasn't since I dosed him and that was like 7 years ago. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Stocking up is a normal physiologic variant. Read about it and understand it. It's painless, temporary, does not impair function, and usually resolves within a couple hours of normal activity after turnout or exercise.
When a lot of people get ankle swelling after a 6 hour flight I don't prescribe special herbs or diuretics. I explain a few simple things they can do to minimize it during the flight and what they can do to get it to go away afterwards.
Save your money. You don't need special herbs for this. |
