My last post got deleted so I will reword it I guess? What is the difference in these and why are there so many crown C's for sale but you don't see any FX3's? I'm curious this is the only tree I've found to fit my gelding so far and used shopping is though! Any differences other than one sits you on your pockets and the other more on your crotch?

The Crown C has been around longer than the FX3. The seat raises on a steeper angle to the pommel on a Crown C.

I don't think there are more Crowns C's for sale than any other brand, your eyes see what they want to. I've noticed alot of Double Js selling now, but if I look at another group, it's all Martins, and if I look at another... etc.

Call Brian at Equibrand and ask your question.

From my understanding the horse part of the tree is the same, so they shouldn't fit differently.

I have heard some people believe the trees don't fit the same as the years progressed, I only have crown c saddles and I don't find they fit my horses any different from 2013 to 2015.

Crown c saddles a lot of people jumped on the band wagon at the beginning due to the gullet. The biggest complaint was the crown c was throwing people forward, then came along the fx3 to please the people who wanted the gullet choice and sit on their pockets.

The people who like crown c saddles will keep theirs

The people who like the fx3 saddles will also keep theirs, hence why you don't see many for sale.

Also Martin saddlery is no longer the flavour of the month, I know a lot of people are trying the Jeff smith, tami semas, c3 saddles, if they like them they will sell their Martin.

Maybe the gullets were slightly different ont he two I tried. If wasn't a huge difference but the FX3 definitely fit better. I was just wondering if they rode THAT much different

I have both a Crown C and an FX3 - I really like my Crown C and it never threw me forward. In fact, I bought it because it kept my feet from swinging back. I bought the FX3 this year because my young horse is a cutting reject and I needed a slightly wider tree and she is so quick and ratey the FX3 keeps me in my seat. It is a tighter seat than the Crown C and the pommels wrap around a little to really holdl you in on a harder dropping or ratey horse. It took me awhile to actually like the FX3 so was glad to be able to ride a demo saddle for a couple weeks as I didn't like it at first. On my taller colt I have a feeling I will go back to the Crown C because he is a smoother turner.

I've had both but I think the one you'll prefer depends on your horses turning style and how you like to ride. If you like to be more back on your pockets or if you ride a hard turning horse the FX3 is your better choice. If you preferred to sit up more straight up and down then you might prefer the crown c. If you search Facebook you should be able to find several FX3s for sale also. Edited to add that even though it's it's you back the FX3 still allows you to get forward and hustle and feel secure with the bigger swells.

I went with the FX3 as my mare rode better in it. The crown c has the same exact horse fit but my mare drops so far down on her front end I needed something a bit higher in the front.

Hmm I have a FX3 coming from Martin to try hopefuly I get a good idea on if I like it. From the sound of it I think I may prefer the ride in this to the crown C which is a bummer bc I've been able to find used crown C's for decent used prices but not the FX3 lol

The first couple of days I was struggling with it, but then I figured out how to ride it - it wants you to sit back on the turns. It's a much tighter fit than the Crown C and the horn sits straighter and higher, but the first time my horse decided to drop and suck back when something scared her and it kept me right where I needed to be I was sold.  I suggested riding and running in it for 2 or 3 weeks if you can to really get the feel of it.

Good luck!

I believe the gullet, and bar angles are the same in the crown c and the fx3. In short the horse portion is the same, not the human part of the saddle

Ok got a FX3 to try its a 14" 7" gullet. It rides really nice I like it so far. Here are my horse's sweat patterns the pressure feels pretty even under the saddle with and without a 1/2" CSI. What do y'all think?

Not bad - that is the demo saddle I had and it looks like the 7" fits your horse better than mine as I would have dry spots by the shoulders and down the back. The one I bought is an 8" and I don't know that it fits my horse that much different than the 7", but I can certainly feel the width difference in my seat.

Everyone always says large dry spots aren't to worry about I'm using a CSI pad with it and he feels great riding in it. I might try my ESP pad next time I ride and see how the sweat pattern looks with that.

I honestly don't look at sweat patterns, I go by feel and by what the horse is telling me.

See I feel like he's relaxed moves out great and the pressure is extremely even which has been such a struggle!

Ok so I had s feeling the 7" was too wide in the front for my gelding and was dumping the weight on his front end. Tried a shim and these are the results. Now would you think a 6.5 would work or would it then become too narrow through the rest of the saddle and over his loin?
