I am trying to find a flysheet that will help keep my dark brown/black horse's coat from getting fried. Last year he looked like a dull buckskin midway into our hot summer. Hoping to find something that will hold up decent and not make him overheat. I am not really a fan of leaving him confined to a stall all day and trying to find a happy medium.

I think the brand Kensington has some that reflect the UV light? Maybe look into those.

Yes that is what I use on my show horse so that way he can spend time outside. I put it on him about 5pm when it starts to cool down and let him out of the barn into the pasture, and then he wears it overnight and I get him back in the barn about 8 am. The other horses have NEVER left a mark on him biting and I can send you pictures of his coat. He is a dark brown and never fades. THey also have a great warrenty if you have one ruined. I had mine get hung up a bit coming out of my friends barn and tore the chest up pretty bad. They sent me a replacement. I do think I just paid shipping. I do not sell a thing for them, just a very happy customer.

I highly recommend the Kensington protective fly sheets. They are a heavier and thicker material but keep the horse cool because it has great air flow. I've also tried the mesh type fly sheets and they were too hot to use in summer time. Schneider's mosquito mesh sheets are also good for night time turn out but I am not a fan of the material, it is very Ridgid and will rub if the horse has sensitive skin.
