My mare is back on stall rest and will only be getting walked 5 min a day. When she was in a large pen I was giving her a healthy flake of alfalfa and 1 flake grass hay AM & PM and she kept herself fairly well exercised. Now that she is back on stall rest (so far a week +2 days)with that same amount of feed she is putting weight on. Due to her injury, I don’t want her to put any extra weight on, she was at a healthy weight, but now is bordering the could be pregnant look.. I am at a loss as to what to feed her.
I could give her more grass hay, less alfalfa, but she tends to not process the grass hay as well and will get a big hay belly, but she would be eating longer..
Less grass hay and a full flake of alfalfa doesn’t last long and she will literally chew down the boards in her stall.
She’s already wrecked an expensive slow feeder and 2 slowfeed hay nets.
I am about to pull my hair out with this mare! Any suggestions?

She's not on any grain right now, only the grass hay and alfalfa. The ocubes available to me I wasn't impressed with as I had to soak them 20min to even be able to break them up and I found quite a few strings in them.
