I am still looking for my horse that was stolen 6 years ago. I am going to try to attach a photo of him....I know who had him last and she lives in texas...its a long story and if you want to know names you will have to inbox me because I will not put them on this public forum because I don't want it deleted. He is 17 years old now and may be going by the name of "Slick" his registered name is DA Touch Of Steady and he is red flagged through AQHA. He was in Texas the last I heard. If you know anything or have seen him please PM me. Thank you in advance.

May I ask how exactly he was stolen? At a race, from home? Don't need too many details just curious.

Also, if you know who may have him why not get the Texas Rangers involved to go pay him her a visit?   I know some BBs here don't like the Texas Rangers but they've recovered a lot of things for me in the past...

Lots of times when it's a "long story" there's a stablekeepers lien or promises of money that never changed hands. Cops don't have time for "he said, she said" messes. They don't have any problem returning property to the rightful owner, but they don't do drama.

The horse is mine....nothing to do with stables .....and no promise of money either. I still have his papers and like I said he is red flagged through AQHA. I don't recall saying anything about drama.....just corrupt cheating lying individuals.

I suggest that you join the SOUTHWESTERN AND TEXAS CATTLE RAISERS ASSN. Their job is finding stollen animals. You can email them a picture of your horse. Sometimes at shows in TX there is a coggins sweep and they would come closest to finding the horsebecause of that brand.

I sent her the contact information for the agent covering the Bowie County area to TSCRA. I'm a member. They're better than the FBI at locating stolen ANYTHING.
I always joke to my SO that if I was abducted to call Wayne (Goodman). He's our investigator for region 10. LOL. He's scary good.

I would get a FB page, you don't have to post anything or let others post on your page but you may  have the ability to see the persons page who think has him.   I would be stalking her over the internet.   Does she/he compete on this horse?

hope you find him

I am a little confused....You knew who had the horse? How could that have been a stolen horse? Did you lease or lend him and he wasn't returned? If you knew who had him why didn't you go get him or have him picked up by authorities back then....like I said....just confused here!

I am a little confused....You knew who had the horse? How could that have been a stolen horse? Did you lease or lend him and he wasn't returned? If you knew who had him why didn't you go get him or have him picked up by authorities back then....like I said....just confused here!

The girl took him across state lines. That's when it gets difficult to get help from the law

Thank you slacy09.

Well that is frustrating, hope you can find him and bring him back to yours state so that's her problem and not yours.

Seems to me even if he was taken to another state does not negate legal ownership. Go to that state to the county sheriffs dept with proof of ownership and pick up your horse!! So you know who has the horse?

My attorney tried all that when he was taken. She sold him. This isn't as easy as people think. Once they cross the state line it becomes a nightmare .

Because, more than likely, law enforcement do not consider this as a "stolen horse" to be pursued and prosecuted, whether it is across state lines or not. They consider it a civil case. However, that being said, IF you find the horse, have papers in hand and can PROVE that he was never sold or traded, you can enlist LE's help in picking up the horse.

so theft is legal in the state she went to?

No its not and my hopes are low right now. I wish everyone knew how hard I tried and how much money I have spent and all the miles I have driven trying to get him back. It has been a long heartbreaking road.

I'm so sorry. I just can not imagine the heartache and worry and time spent. Prayers you finally get your horse back and the one who stole and sold him makes it right with all involved.
