For those of you who have done an aftermarket satelite package, what option did you chose?

The Dish tailgater seems to have decreased in price to about $350.  Monthly service is $5 for the months you need it.

The Sling attachment would allow me to use Dish Anywhere, then use an HDMI cable to run it into the TV in the trailer.  The Sling is $50, and I'd have to rig the internet to my Dish reciever, which I think most people do by default...

I think the tailgater would be more reliable (lots of places where the cell service probably wouldn't be good enough to stream).  The Sling is WAY cheaper.

What have you learned about Dish?

Right.  And I have enough PITAs to last a freaking lifetime. I should have ordered it with the trailer, but didn't really think we'd use it that much.  Sure, we can live without it, but I think I'd actually like it (being I'm anti-social).

We got rid of our satellite.  We have Direct TV, so we installed the ap on the Ipad and run a cable to the tv.  Very Very easy to do.  And, it doesn't charge you data or minutes on your device either.

Doesn't that just burn up data real fast without WiFi?

It does but we have unlimited data.  So no overages.  We have 2 phones and 2 ipads.  So it was only $30 more a month for it.  Our bill is $159/mth.

We cut out our internet and our TV subscription and do all of our TV's at home and in the trailer this way.

And, even though it says it slows you down, I have not seen it.  We have been doing this for over a month now.

We can't get cable out here and the wireless internet providers are either crappy or all booked up. Verizon just switched to unlimited data, but I don't know if it's fast enough through one of those little hot spot devices. I'd love to be able to get Netflix, etc...

The same with us - we can't get internet except through the satellite.  So, we had a wi-fi put on the ipads.  Works great for us.

So funny, because we live in one of the least populated counties in ND, and we have fiber optic internet in our house.  So getting the Dish "Sling" in our house would be easy, it's just the weird places we rodeo that might not have service on the cell phone side.

Isn't that the sh!ts? Here we live 30 minutes outside of Austin Texas, and we can't get any cable, or even wireless internet. Meanwhile you guys live out in God's country and you have fiber optic Internet.
Go figure!
