I had a toxic test done on horse. He was high in selenium but not toxic. I don't want to have to pull horse off pasture but will if I have to. I have had a lot of lameness issues and short breaths during the spring and summer months and horizontal cracks at the heels off and on. these are all symptoms of high selenium. I have changed his feed program and will be rechecking his sel. level in 90 days. Is there something I can put in my pasture to drop the sel. level down? We do spray ea year. I have a very small place I have 2 horses and pasture is less than 5 acres. Also place used to be part of the smeltering or close to it. They did reclaim the land but not my place because it was on the line! A lot of iron has been buried on my place and a brick person had our place at one time and tons of brick is buried too! I married into the land! lol No chance of moving! Also it does flood every couple years but once the rain stops it is gone within couple hours or I for sure wouldn't be able to handle and I have always gotten horses out before it has gotten too high! and I do not put them back on pasture till after the next rain. thanks!
