Location: Nor Cal | We are looking to trade in my husbands sedan for a truck. We have a 2500 Duramax, but it's been sitting at my grandmas house along with our LQ used maybe 1 - 2 times a year. We have been looking at the Toyota Tacoma's, F 150's, Nissan Titans, etc. Anyone have any suggestions or can give me feedback on anything. Our criteria - Needs to be 4 door and 4x4.

| We like our duramax's and have considered going with a 1/2 ton Chevy as a more daily driver.
I don't have experience with newer fords but everything that has died before it should have on our place has been a Ford. We won't own another.
I have a co worker who has Toyota tundra he seems to like it.

| I've killed three F150s right after 100,000 miles, even with regular maintenance.
I am now running a Nissan Frontier, I just love that little truck!!! It's the greatest zipper mobile ever. |

| I have a 2004 Chevy 1500 and I love it! It's an extended cab, comfy, rides nice. I haven't had it long but haven't had any problems so far. I bought it off my uncle who took great care of it and he didn't have any issues either and he had it since it was new.

Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | My DH ordered a hybrid diesel Dodge Ram last year, with a few special items. It arrived before christmas and is wonderful. No matter driving in town or On any long trips we take the truck, because it is not only great on fuel but the seats are like riding in a recliner. Great truck. |

| I had a 4 door Chevy 1500. When we bought it it had a camper that I wanted OFF ASAP! Well, we never did take the camper off because I fell in love with that thing. I could pick up hay and feed in the rain with no worries. If we were traveling, all the bags went in the camper. The truck itself drove so smooth. It had good pick up, too. I loved that truck! |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Dodge 1500 hands down.
Cheaper than any mentioned above with the right accessories. So for the same money as you spend on a Chevy 1500, Nissan Titan (Terrible transmissions by the way.) or a Toyota Tacoma, you could get a very nice full sized 1500.
We have a 2013 Ram 1500 Express with a 5.7L Hemi and the big Crew Cab with a programmer and get high 20s in town for mpg as well as highway. It's truck month here in our neck of the woods. We are going to look at the 1500 sport this afternoon to maybe trade up since the 2017s have the new 8 speed transmissions. 55k truck for less than 40k. Base model 1500s with the small 3.9 or 4.6L are cheaper as well and get better mileage... SO just likes the 5.7L Hemi the best. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | I would stay away from Fords for one reason, the cost of fixing them. We used to be a Ford family and have switched to Dodge, GMC, and Chevy. We have a 1/2 ton Chevy that takes a beating on the ranch...serious beating, and has been the best truck. We have had multiple Fords and have struggled with them as they aged...the cost of fixing them was so much higher than the other brands. Didn't make sense to us. |

| I have an 04 F150 that I use for all of my hauling and my daily driving. I absolutely LOVE it! For sure my favorite truck that I've owned. I haven't even taken very good care of it...and it's still going strong! Very comfortable for long hauls, and tows great. Plus I think it's a very attractive truck. My opinion =] |

I would suggest a Tacoma for a mid-sized truck. My dad drives a Tundra and that truck is awesome. He has owned 2 Tacomas and he is on his third Tundra. Traded them all in for newer models, not because of any issues. They were all great and gave him no problems. I owned a Corolla for 7 years and it was a great car. Toyota is a good company. |

I agree with him. This is the one my dad owns. It's a cool truck to drive. Lots of neat features.

Location: Arkansas | We have a Tundra and love it. Never had any major issues even tho it's an '07 with over 120000 miles. We are about to do some brake work and a few other things. Sean wants to buy a new (or at least new to us) truck, but I'm leaning towards doing the few small repairs and NOT having a truck payment!! We even hauled our old 3 horse LQ with the Tundra until we got a bigger trailer, and it was a beast.

Location: Lone Star State | Mid-size = toyota tacomas. They are real popular around here and the 4x4's make great lil ranch trucks.
Although not mid-size, I drive Toyota Tundra. I like the 5.7L over the 4.6L and the back seat room is great. This is my third Tundra and my husband and dad usually stick to Tacomas. I can tell you from experience, they last. |

His partner had a Ford F-150 and that Tacoma could haul more shingles then the Ford and because of the 4 wheel drive, it would go anywhere while his partner's Ford would just spin wheels. First vehicle he ever kept after it reached 50,000 miles. |

Location: NE TX | I've had 3 1500 Silverados. Love them! Maintain them like you need to, change fluids, tires, etc. regularly and they last forever. My first one was a 5.3L V8, drove it till it had 240,000 miles and had a guy pull out in front of me (no trailer with me thank God) and didn't do much damage to me or truck but bent frame so totaled it.
Next went to smaller v8 and liked it but missed the extra power when hauling so now have another 5.3 v8 and it's a z71 and I got it used with 68.000 miles it now has 122,000 and is an '05 and it runs fantastic.
Anything larger than a 1500 can't help much cause that's all I've owned. I'm not a big Ford girl..I just don't like the way they drive and handle. For me it's between Dodge and Chevy, have some friends that haul in a Tundra and love it but haven't been with them. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | I've had them all, the longest lasting 1/2 ton truck I've had is the chevy 1500, I'm on my 2nd one now. I had a 2007 5.3 v8 and hauled a 3000 lb stock trailer with 3 horses all day long for 5 years with no issues at all except the regular maintenance. The only thing I've noticed that goes with those trucks is electrical issues (radio) and the AC, but never any engine issues, change your oil and regular tune ups and you're good to go. I have a 2013 4 door now 4x4 1500 and I love it, smoothest driving truck (the z71s drive the best). And it's comfy. I test drove an 150 and it was not nearly as comfortable.
I had a Dodge Ram 1500, blew the tranny within 2 years, I like the tundras but they are so so expensive for what I wanted! Never had a Toyota so can't dog it. |
