Location: Texas | I have recently purchased a Circle Y Tammy Fischer treeles saddle because my mare is wide backed with little whiters, and I had a Lazy L by Coats that it didn't fit her well. So the reason I went to the treeless was to fit her. When I first rode the treeless I hated it but have gotten semi-used to it knowing it's what she needs to be comfortable in. I still feel like I can't sit very deep, like on my pockets and feel like I am not putting my heels down like I did before and feel rocked forward. I've ridden my whole life (since I was two and I'm 32) and haven't felt this uncomfortable in a saddle. It's hard for me to get the girth the right tightness too. Any suggestions about adjustments I could make to feel better in it? I feel like my stirrups are the right length and I'm using a 28 inch girth when normally this mare is a 30. If I take it up too much on the billet side then it seems like it won't reach, but then if not I run out of holes of my latigo and end up going through three times and I'm constantly feeling like it needs to be tighter the longer I ride. I'm using a Zone Classic Equine pad that isn't super thick. |

Location: Mi | I switched from a treed saddle last year to a treeless, I went to the Jatzlau and I feel like I can sit down but I can get up to hustle my horse. I've never felt rocked forward in it, it honestly feels a lot like a treed saddle to me. I use a 3/4" 5 Star (not the treeless pad the regular pad) and a 26" cinch. My mare also used a 30 in a treed saddle. I went to a 28 and it still wasn't right, the 26 did the trick.

Thanks so much for your input. I'm not sold treeless is the answer. I know it's at least a temporary fix and isn't hurting her, but not great for me. Maybe I should try the BM but if it rolls that might not work either. I may see if someone has one close to me that I can try. How wide is the CJ? I don't know what size gullet she needs really. I found a way to measure, that I need to try and see if it's true to what she really needs. |

My pad is a 3/4 Classic Equine Zone pad. I will try the 26 cinch and see if that helps. Thanks so much. I'm trying really hard to like this saddle, but I just don't feel like I ride as well in it or feel as comfortable. |

Another suggestion I don't know it may not help at all but the zone pads do have some build up in the shoulder area of them. Maybe try a pad without that? Maybe it will help the saddle feel a little more stable on the horses bac. Maybe not.

The Tammy and Jackie saddles take a lot shorter girth. I use a 26" on the Jackie and a 32" with a treed.

No I went up in the size. I rode a 14 in treed and this one is a 14.5. |

It would be interesting to see if you could ride in a 15.5 and see if it would help. I went from a 14.5 to a 15.5 in the Jackie. With the high cantle on the Tammy it makes the actual seat smaller then the Jackie. |

Location: NE Texas | That's what I loved about the Tammy and the Jackie is that there was NO WAY I could get forward in either one of them. The Jackie felt a little shallow and like I could pop out of it at any moment, but the Tammy was great to run in. If anything, I found it difficult to ride daily b/c my feet were so forward that it was hard to 2 point or post in, but as far as making a run, I wish I could have afforded to keep my Tammy and have another saddle on hand to ride daily. |

I need to see if someone has a 15.5. When I was trying this one, I asked if it was too small and the response was if I went to a 15.5 it would fit like this one but I would slide forward and back. I assumed, I just wasn't used to being "touched" by the saddle because of me always riding a treed saddle. It's hard to decide if treeless just isn't for me or if it's the saddle not fitting me or I'm still just not used to it. I've been riding it since January. Thanks so much for your input and maybe it is the size. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | There's a huge difference in sitting on a saddle on a stand versus sitting in the saddle on the horse you are using it on. Each horse's back will make it feel a little different.
I rode in one but was never a fan but it made a huge difference in being able to make a run. You do what you need to do. It was like heaven getting back into my Caldwell..LOL |

I think I'm leaning toward going back to a treed saddle. I just need to find one that will fit her. I agree each horse is different and riding the saddle makes a difference. It's weird because when I run in it, I don't know if I'm not focused on it as much or what, I feel okay, but riding everyday it's miserable. I haven't ever ridden one and the rocked forward feeling and not feeling like I can push my weight down in my heels is a weird feeling. |

If your horse has a high withers and big drop at shoulder it will make those saddles fit almost a whole size smaller. Also, if your horse has a really round back and no withers you need a really thin pad. And with the drop rigging you need 26 inch girth. As far as size you should go up a whole size so if u ride a 14 you have to go up to 15.5 because they don't make even sizes. I don't like the Tammy. I have a Jackie and like it more than the BM. It's easy to post in. That being said I hate running certain horses in them. Hard to stay up with some horses. |

She has a pretty round back with hardly any withers. I'm using a fairly thin pad (3/4 inch with no buildup or anything on the front). Until I get it really cinched down, there's space between the saddle and her withers, I don't know if that's normal or not. I'm using a 28 girth, may need to try the 26. Interesting the difference you feel between the Tammy and Jackie. I haven't ridden the Jackie. I didn't have much choice when I got this one. I got to try it on my mare, but the saddle I had didn't fit her so I couldn't keep using it. This one fits her much better but it just isn't comfortable for me. I feel more comfortable running in it, but when I ride daily it's miserable. Maybe it's just not the saddle for her or me either one. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | The Treeless saddles will form to horses back the thiner the pad you will notice more, so your saddles will get more of a tighter fit for you. So I go up in the size on a Treeless, I can ride in a 14.5 to a 15 inch in treed saddles depends on what brand so I ride in a 15.5 Treeless mine is a Bob Marshall. |

The wide has to be broken in too. My Jackie set up a little at first but finally relaxed and sets down now. If your mare is that round the wide would have been a better fit. I did ride the Tammy and I felt very confined in it. The cantle doesn't set as high on the Jackie and feels more like a normal saddle. What part of Texas are you in? |

Hummm never heard this befor, who was telling you a reg. would fit like a wide once its broken in? Sounds like to me you needed to be trying a wide fit on your mare and a larger seat for you. Sounds like a bad fit you and your mare if your that miserable riding in this saddle. |

The person I bought it from told me that. She is very knowledgable and has a bunch of horses in these saddles and said none of hers she used a wide on. I asked about the wide knowing the reason that my Coats didn't fit her is because she's thick-backed with hardly any withers. I sat in another brand of treeless with a 13.5 seat (knowing it was too small, I ride a 14 treed saddle) that was my friend's on my mare and I almost felt more comfortable in it than I do this one. It's weird. I think maybe it's me and my preferences and not the saddle, but you may be right it's just not the right saddle for either of us. Thanks for your help. |

If I don't like it, I think I'm going back to a treed saddle. Thanks so much for everyone's input and help. I'm pretty clueless on treeless. I've ridden treed my whole life until Jan. |
